KARACHI: Just one day after winning the Federal Cup, the country’s number one tennis player received a 25 % cut in the match fee, a six -month ban, a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh and mismanagement.
It has been found that the Pakistan Tennis Federation imposed a six -month ban on Mohammed Shoaib and there is no fine of Rs 1.5 lakh, no admission to the PTF premises, anger management courses, and severe disciplinary measures in the future.
A letter from the PTF, which is available with ‘The News’, addressed M Shoaib on Monday, stating that the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) management has taken the notice of the incident on May 21, 2025 during the Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship at PTF Tennis Court.
“It was established by several witnesses, including players, parents, coaches and tournament organizers, that you were involved in a serious corruption process. It includes throwing abuse language, using pornographic and unpleasant words, and Mr. Amjad Niazi (Talla and Hizbah and Hizba’s death.
“Given the gravity of the incident, the disciplinary committee of the Islamabad Tennis Association (ITA) conducted a detailed investigation.
“Based on the results of the ITA inquiry committee, the President PTF called on the PTF Dispensary Committee on May 25, 2025 to recommend further investigation/investigation and proper action. It was also revealed during the inquiry that this is not the first example of such an unprecedented behavior.
“Previous events have already made PTF management a significant embarrassment. In this particular case, your decision to get involved and increase the situation is understandable and is completely baseless.”
In light of the aforementioned observation, the PTF Dispensary Committee recommended several steps against M Shoaib, which included RS. There are 1.5 million fines on corruption, six -month ban on participation in national and international tournaments, and no admission to the PTF premises during the ban period.
Also, the PTF said that if a one -year ban is default, the player should take a course of anger management and this effect should be presented to the PTF before the end of the certificate ban.
“The ban will launch the WEF on May 25, 2025. This letter is being sent for strict compliance, and it should be clearly understood that any future corruption – whether direct or indirectly – will result in more strict disciplinary measures.
When contacted, M Shoaib said the ban was extremely disappointing and completely unlawful. “Person [Amjad Niazi] According to the PTF, I fought the fighting, actually who slapped me in the first place when I told him to control one of his sons, who was quarreling with two of my fellow players a day before the incident.
Shoaib said, “But instead of snatching his son, this man slapped me and then we fought a short fight. Even then I apologized to the man in the evening and was aware of the referee,” said Shujib, adding that the referee told me that my match would be agreed on 25 % of the fee.
“Still, President PTF went further with the matter and formed a committee that punished me such a severe punishment. At the height of my career, the ban on not being prominent in national and international programs is very strict.
“It is not justified to ban the country’s top players who have already faced a 25 % match fee. This ban is a dual blow to me because I will be the most important contender for the national team who is playing Davis Cup against Paraguay in the coming months and we have the potential to win this tie.”
He said that the PTF should have banned the person and his sons who were involved in a dispute with the best players in the country during the program, but the PTF president had a different impression on the matter.
Shoaib concluded, “Now I will decide from my family and coaches what to do against this blasphemous ban. I hope that a better feeling prevails and the PTF withdraws this very harmful decision.”
