The Champions Trophy has come at least from Pakistan’s point of view. As a host, we had high hopes for being influenced eight years ago and defending our title. But this time, everything was separated. The back -to -back defeats against New Zealand and India crushed our campaign, and the rain ended any last chance to save the pride to be just a regular match against Bangladesh.
From team selection to preparation and on -field performances, nothing is fine for the green shirts. It is often said that a good Match match practice before setting the basis for success before a major tournament. Nevertheless, even before the Champions Trophy, the Try Series failed to give Pakistan a competitive lead. It was clearly clear against New Zealand and India.
Winning and losing is part of the game, but the real symbol of great teams is the intensity, energy and sports awareness that they bring in the field. Unfortunately, Pakistan’s performance was lacking. Advanced opponents were neither hungry nor strategic adaptation to challenge. The most dangerous problem? Not a single player in the Champions Trophy Squad of Fitness Pakistan cannot be classified as meeting the elite athletic standards. Many were just going through the motivations rather than just bringing the spirit of fighting, which has historically allowed Pakistan to punch over its weight.
Yes, New Zealand and India are high in terms of technical skills and fitness, but in Pakistan there has always been an X-Factor-this table has the ability to bend with gross attraction and commitment. This time, the fire was nowhere to be seen. The team lacked spark, passion, and the ability to take advantage of important moments. Result? A humiliating route that once again highlights the clear shortcomings in Pakistan’s cricket development system.
What’s ahead? A blueprint for the revival
Now, PCB faces a massive challenge: rebuilding and preparation method for the future. The ICT20 World Cup (India and Sri Lanka co -hosts) are the next major events in October in October and February 2026. If Pakistan wants to be a serious contender, it is time to work now.
With the PSL 2025 around the corner, the best way to action is to identify the pool of 30 top actors – preferably young, passionate players at the end of the tournament. This group should go through fitness training, skill development, and exhibition programs to ensure that they are ready for war.
A clear fitness first approach must be implemented. This team needs technically stable coaches that understand modern T20 dynamics, especially in high pressure conditions to hit electricity and adapt. Moreover, these young people should be mentally conditioned to believe that they are at the biggest stage.
There is no shortage of capabilities in Pakistan. The country breathes cricket. What is missing is that the structure needs to be developed to convert raw talent into world -class actors.
If Pakistan is serious about reset, future assignments should consider the following young guns:
• Irfan Khan Niazi
• Sofian living
• seafood
• Faisal Akram
• the transgender
• Jeandad Khan
• Ali Raza
• Azan Owais
• Akif Javed
• Shahabib Khan
• Observer Khan
• Usman Khan (left -handed batsman)
• Aaron Irshad
• Abd al -Susan
A bold, ruthless election policy is needed at this time. Most of the Champions Trophy squad players should not be considered for T20s – fresh blood is the time.
The failure of the Champions Trophy should not only be another forgotten chapter in Pakistan’s cricket history. It should work as a wake -up call. If Pakistan can produce a squad with the correct mixture of youth, fitness, and modern -day T20 skills, a strong recovery is possible.
The time for change is now. Will PCB take the right steps?
