Earlier this week the 30th edition of the British Fashion Awards returned to London’s Royal Albert Hall, where the hottest designers, top models and stylish celebrities gathered to celebrate the biggest names in the fashion industry. This year’s event, hosted by award-winning American actress and producer Tracee Ellis Ross, saw some of our favorite celebrities donning some of the most stylish outfits paired with glamorous makeup looks on the red carpet. Being one of the biggest nights in the fashion calendar, it was no surprise that the red carpet of the evening was buzzing with standout fashion moments and the style references were sure to please everyone. .
Here’s a roundup of great hair and makeup inspiration, from sparkly updos to stunning makeup looks and trendy hairstyles…
Julia Roberts
Hollywood sweetheart, Julia Roberts wore an Armani Prive shimmering black jumpsuit. Styled by Elizabeth Stewart, the actress paired the crystal-embellished number with striking blue drop earrings from Irene Neuwirth’s Botanical Collection. The pretty actress opted for a natural-looking make-up – flush cheeks, black eyeliner and a rosy pink lip color. As for her hair, stylist Serge Normant — the hairstylist behind Meghan Markle’s perfectly imperfect wedding chignon — went with big, tousled waves.
Rita Ora
English singer, songwriter and actress Rita Ora attended the lavish event wearing a 16 Arlington Bespoke black and white paneled leather gown. The floor-length dress with a bardot neckline was paired with a matching choker. As for her hair, Rita opted for a wet look. However, it was her sparkling bright blue eye look by makeup artist Mary Bruce that stole the show. According to Bruce, he created Rita’s glamorous asymmetrical design using PermaGel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil in Blitz Blue.
Cate Blanchett
Two-time Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett looked like she stepped out of a fairy tale in a shimmering ivory tulle Armani Prive gown. The Australian beauty’s look had voluminous tulle draped around the neckline and a thick satin belt highlighted her narrow waist. Legendary makeup artist Mary Grenville swiped on petal-pink lipstick by Giorgio Armani Beauty (Blanchett is a face of the brand), while hairstylist and colorist Nicola Clarke styled her hair in a chic French twist. She accessorized her look with chandelier earrings.
Rihanna
Rihanna, whose brand Fenty won the urban luxe category, looked stunning in a wasabi green Fenty mini dress accessorised with complementary gloves and a pair of satin strappy heels. The singer and beauty mogul layered an oversized shirt over a structured mini dress with a bejeweled dress that gave the effect of a corset dress. While she styled her look with diamond earrings and a choker, Rihanna kept her makeup minimal with a glossy nude lip, a subtle contour, soft brown eye makeup and tons of mascara for dramatic effect. kept She wore her hair in braids – so-and-so braids, to be exact – that formed a circular pattern around her head.
Chiara Ferragni.
Italian fashion blogger, designer and entrepreneur Chiara Ferragni went with a custom Etro gold and silver full coupe georgette gown with emerald green paisleys that echoed The Little Mermaid. She paired the dress, which featured a cutout around the waist and a thigh-high split, with a half-up hairstyle and nude heels. Makeup artist Manuel Mimelli used shimmering emerald green eyeshadow to match Ferragni’s lids with her shimmering gown. A touch of gold shadow placed on the inner corners of her eyes adds a highlight, making this look extra festive.
Naomi Campbell
Supermodel Naomi Campbell, who received the Fashion Icon Award, chose to wear an embroidered Alexander McQueen custom-made tulle evening gown with 3D roses and a high neckline. Her hair was styled in glam loose waves, while her shimmery bronze lids were as shiny as her gown. To finish off her look, Campbell opted for a two-toned glossy lip color that ensured plump, pouty lips.
