Rawalpindi: After the last end of last year’s sit -in in Rawalpindi, the leadership of Jamaat -e -Islami (G) has once again demanded a review of agreements with the IPP.
In his meeting, G -Central Majlis -e -E -Shura said, “All exploitation agreements with the IPP should be reviewed immediately”. It can be pointed out here that JI workers, led by Central Aamir, have held a long sit -in in Rawalpindi to demand a reduction in electricity prices.
However, after signing an agreement with the government team, but before the issuance of any official information, the sit -in was called in a hurry. The resolution approved by the Majalis-Shoshura demands that capacity compensation must be eliminated, operational costs should be based on the actual cost.
The GK Central Assembly also expressed deep concern and strong condemnation and strong condemnation of the government’s violation of the agreement between the G and the government in August 2024 and the government’s full review of the oppressive agreements and violating its agreement.
The shower has demanded that the benefits of any renewal contracts be conveyed to the public, and that each unit should be reduced to reduce the cost of electricity to all consumers by Rs 20.
This resolution was presented by Amir Jamaat -e -Islamabad Engineer Nasirullah Randhawa.
The resolution was approved during the meeting, demanding the cancellation of agreements with the IPPS, whose plants have been outdated.
The process of recovering illegal payments to IPPS, IPPS, should begin without delay.
Renewable energy sources – such as solar and air should be preferred for power generation, and the proposed tax on them should be withdrawn immediately in the next budget.
The resolution further demands that the monopoly of K -Electric in Karachi be abolished, and this competition should be introduced in the fields of power transmission and distribution.
The Majlis Shura has confirmed that expensive electricity is not just an economic problem, but also a form of social injustice. The Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to raise their voice against this injustice on all platforms and will follow every constitutional and democratic place-including parliament, courts, media and public demonstrations-to ensure that people get cheap and fair electricity.
JI’s central shora noted that although the government has claimed to review some IPP contracts and announced a reduction in electricity prices by Rs 7 per unit, this reduction is very important – such as a decrease in sea.
If all IPP contracts are thoroughly reviewed, electricity prices can be reduced by half of their current level.
In addition, the current government has imposed an 18 % sales tax on the solar panel used to produce green energy, in the budget of 2025-26. This is despite the fact that solar energy is both environmentally friendly and does not put any financial burden on the government.
Although the rest of the world is promoting it through subsidies, our short rulers, in their constant persecution, are also depriving the poor of this sustainable alternative.
The Shura meeting reminded that JI had a historic sit -in in Murri Road, Rawalpindi in July/August 2024 so that he could restrain IPPS and reduce electricity prices.
During this protest, JIA was held between the IPP agreements, the reduction of electricity prices and other public issues and the government of Pakistan.
A statement issued by a JI spokesperson said that “the negotiations resulted in an agreement under which the government pledges to create a task force to review and examine the IPP contracts.”
Its purpose was to revise exploitation agreements and reduce the cost of electricity per unit, which aimed to provide relief to the public and ensure cheap electricity. It was agreed that the work would be done on an immediate basis.
However, the government has not yet fully implemented the deal.
However, the JI leadership later did not manage the government to implement the agreement.
“What was the purpose of the sit -in in the midst of humid heat and then to hurry it,” a G -worker, who arrived at Rawalpindi every day from his office to protest.
