#China #raises #tariffs #imports
China said on Friday that it would impose a surprising 125 % tariff on goods from the United States as Chinese officials claim that the purchase of US products does not have an economic meaning for importers during the ongoing trade dispute.
The move follows a tumultuous week in which the two countries have changed a series of trade barriers, which in turn increases market fluctuations.
Beijing rejected US President Donald Trump’s growing aggressive style as “jokes” and “numbers game”, saying that the United States should “bear the full responsibility of chaos”.
Trump has deployed sweeping rates, which include painful taxes for dozens of major economies, as a stick to manufacturers to establish themselves in the United States and force countries to reduce US goods barriers.
But after the riot in the market this week, it first blinks the first eye to re -create the post -war system and freeze many revenue for 90 days, though it increased them to China to 145 %.
The latest round of Beijing’s retaliation raises its income to 125 %, which is effective on Saturday.
But the Chinese Ministry of Finance said further action by the United States will be ignored because “at the current tariff level, there is no possibility of market acceptance for US goods exported to China”.
The Beijing Ministry of Commerce said, “The implementation of the United States round during the extraordinary high tax period on China has become a number of games that have no practical importance in economics.”
“If the United States continues to play tariff numbers, China will ignore it,” said a spokesperson.
Beijing also said it would file a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization in the latest Lewis period.
‘Transfer issues’
Trump has acknowledged the “transfer costs and transfer issues” created by his price strategy, but has created a riot in the global market.
“In the end, it is about to become a beautiful thing,” he said.
He called the European Union “very smart” to avoid retaliation.
“The (European Union) was ready to announce retaliation. And then he heard about what we did in China.”
But Ursola Van Dare Lee, the chief of the block from 27 countries, told the Financial Times that if the dialogue with Trump affects the scads, he is equipped with “widespread retaliation measures”.
“An example of this is that you can impose on digital services advertising taxes,” he said.
French President Emmanuel Macron also urged the European Union to continue to prepare for action to counter revenue, which are just stopped but have not been eliminated.
“With the European Commission, we should show ourselves as strong,” he said on X: Europe should continue to work on all necessary anti -measures. “
Talking to Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Friday, state media quoted XI as saying that China and the European Union should easily work on the matter.
“China and Europe should fulfill their international responsibilities … and jointly fight unilateral bullying methods,” XI said.
He emphasized that it would not only “protect its legitimate rights and interests, but also to protect international justice and justice.”
‘No winner’
After New Falls on Wall Street, the Asian markets were pressured again on Friday.
Tokyo sank more than four percent – one day after increasing nine percent – while Sydney, Seoul, Singapore and others also fought.
European markets also withdrew from China’s latest Salvo.
Oil and the dollar slipped globally on the global slowdown, while gold hit a new record of more than $ 3,200, when investors usually threw rock solid US treasury by Trump’s wrong policies.
“Sugar is rapidly ending with Trump’s tariff break,” said Stephen Anis of the SPI asset administration.
“Bottom line: The world’s two largest economies are fully in the trade war-and there are no winners.”
‘Golden Age’
Critics of Trump’s policies say they are causing chaos for companies that rely on complex supply chain, separate close allies, and make goods more expensive for US consumers.
But his commerce secretary Howard Lotnik posted on social media on Thursday that “the golden era is coming. We are determined to protect our interests, involved in global talks and explode our economy.”
Meanwhile, Trump has warned that after 90 days, revenue can return.
“If we can’t contract what we want to make … then we will go back wherever we were,” he said.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called Trump’s Altal “Recovery of Receipt”, saying Ottawa will begin talks with Washington over a new economic deal after the April 28 election.
Vietnam said it had agreed to start trade talks with the United States, while Pakistan was sending a delegation to Washington.
Since China is fighting to find allies against Trump’s trade war, XI will travel to Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia next week, where the tariff is expected to showcase an advanced in the drama agenda.
