WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump sacked General Timothy Hugh as director of the National Security Agency, in which sources said Friday that more than a dozen staff have been included in the White House’s National Security Council.
Two sources familiar with the decision said that NSA Director Air Force General Hug, who is also the head of the US Cyber Command, was dismissed in the NSA with his deputy Wendy Noble, two sources said.
Two other sources said that at least 10 staff were allowed to go to the NSC, including four senior directors, including the entire International Organization (IO) Directorate, which works with international and multilateral groups like the United Nations.
There was no reason for the shooting, which, after the Republican president, took place after the Oval Office meeting with a right -wing political activist known as a conspiratorial Theorest, who said on X.com that he had given Trump a list of extraordinary officials with him.
The White House refused to comment, and the Pentagon did not immediately respond to the comment. Trump has said he wants his administration to act with those who support their positions.
“We are always going to leave people – those whom we do not like or those who benefit from, or those who can be loyal to someone else,” he told reporters in Air Force One on Thursday.
The IO Directorate in the National Security Council works with international and multilateral groups, including the United Nations and the Group of Seven. FBI director Kashi Patel first served in the Directorate.
In both terms, Trump has rejected his administration’s participation in some of these groups, and instead focuses on the “US First” approach for foreign policy.
Two sources said that the NSC shooting included Daniel Guestord and Tim Sheeran, both directors are with Health Security and the Bio Defense Directorate.
Media outlets, including the Washington Post, cited current and former US officials, reporting Thursday night’s shootings, saying they did not know the reason for the dismissal of the hoo or the re -assignment of the Nobel.
The post states that Nobel was re -assigned to the Pentagon’s Office for the Under Secretary of the Defense for Intelligence. The NSA is part of the Defense Department.
The newspaper said that the US Cyber Command Deputy William Hartman was named NSA Director and Sheila Thomas, who was an executive director in the NSA, was named Acting Deputy.
Democrats criticized the shootings, saying they represent a threat to national security. Representative Jim Hams, a connective Democrat that ranks as a member of the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, condemned the firing and sought clarification.
“I have considered General Hag as an honest and clear leader who followed the law and gave national security a top priority – I am afraid that he is characterized by the features that can lead to his firing in this administration,” Hems said.
Virginia Democrat, Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Mark Warner, noted that unlike some other top officials of the Trump administration, there was no debate on military plans on the Hao Signal Commercial Messaging app, which was inadvertently involved in a magazine journalist.
In his statement, Warner said, “It is also surprising that President Trump will dismiss the experienced leader of the National Security Agency, non -Partisine, while he has failed to account for any member of his team to leak information on the trade messaging app.”
Trump, a Republican, has fired several non -Partisian top officials in US agencies since began his second term on January 20.
In February, he fired CQ Brown, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force, who was dismissed with five other Admirals and Generals in an extraordinary shaking of the US military leadership.
Elon Musk, who is leading the Trump administration’s efforts to reduce and smooth the federal government’s workforce, visited the National Security Agency last month to meet the Hog.
The NSA is one of the Premier Intelligence Agencies in the United States and uses advanced, special technology and systems to collect and analyze intelligence. The US Cyber Command carries both aggressive and defense operations and monitors the Department of Defense Networks.
