On Friday, a powerful earthquake destroying buildings in the Myanmar city of Mandale resulted in a severe search for debris by debris.
Lack of heavy machinery and delays in government aid, locals and rescue workers struggled to save those demanding help.
The hat -trick, 25, easily escaped when a brick wall crushed it, half of his body was trapped. He talked about his discomfort when he tried to clean the debris with his bare hands, looking for his grandmother and two mamas who remained unconscious under the rubble of the building.
He broke the tears and said, “There are a lot of debris, and no rescue team has come for us.”
Myanmar has been in crisis since 2021, when the army seized power by an elected government, and brutally crushed the protest and gave rise to an unprecedented armed uprising.
Human sympathy agencies say Friday’s earthquake measures 7.7 and has killed more than a thousand people, after four years of military rule and civil war, has come a weak moment for the country that has disabled the infrastructure and displaced millions.
“The powerful earthquake affected the country at the worst possible time,” said Sheila Matthew, deputy director of the World Food Program. “Myanmar cannot afford just one more catastrophe.”
International Rescue Committee Director Myanmar Raees said people across the country are affected by “widespread violence”, and the health system has been “suffering from controversy, which is overwhelmed by the spread of cholera and other diseases.”
“There is an unprecedented tension on the resources that are already pulling over the extra pressure to meet the needs of those injured in the earthquake.”
Myanmar’s Jinta spokesman did not respond to the commentary requests.
The Foreign Minister of the National Alliance Government, the parallel city government, which oversees the pro -democracy forces, told Reuters by phone that it would deploy anti -agent troops to help the destruction efforts.
Poly charses
In January, the United Nations said the country faces a “multi -faceted” by economic elimination, accelerating conflicts, deepening climate threats and deepening poverty. More than half of the country lacks access to electricity, and hospitals are out of service in disputed areas.
More than three and a half million people have been displaced internally in the midst of a fight between a mosaic of the army and armed groups, and crossed many borders and has controlled the area’s vast people.
According to a Free Burma Rangers, a relief organization, near the headquarters of one of the largest ethnic armed groups, military jets continued to fight on Friday, with the launch of airstrikes by military jets and drone strikes immediately after the earthquake in the state of Karen.
Bristol University’s educational, Nyi Nyi Kyaw, wrote in a social media post that forced involvement in the military, the loss of “(country) youth, especially a significant part of youth,” would hinder the loss of destruction.
“City and towns are deserted by young people who once took to the streets and mobilized for rescue and relief efforts,” he said.
“There is no proper work to work properly – let it be legitimate – the government in the most affected areas of the earthquake,” he said.
A relief worker is trying to liberate 140 monks from the ruins of the demolished building in Mandala’s Amarpura, “said,” We cannot help because we do not have so many manpower and machines to remove the debris. “
However, he said, “We will not work”.
No help
Myanmar’s Jinta has issued an unusual appeal for international aid, and teams are flying on Saturday to respond to the devastation from Russia, China, Singapore and India.
But rights activists expressed concern that aid would not reach the people on the ground, as the history of the government has a history of preventing some parts of the country under opposition groups.
Thomas Andrews, a UN human rights reporter in Myanmar, said in a post on the X that the recent storm and the military’s response to the typhoon have shown “aid to weapons” between natural disasters.
Reuters reported in December that Junta scared relief agencies and pressed the researchers not to collect data on hunger and pressed the country about the severe food crisis.
In Mandala, residents interviewed by Reuters said they had not yet received any assistance from military officials.
A rescue worker said on Saturday that he had borrowed machinery from the business to help pass through the debris. He said that he had not received anything from the military government but the fear of seeking revenge was denied.
Some residents were appealing for machinery on Facebook.
One wrote that the family members were crushed under the rubble of a mosque and “we intensely want to recover their bodies”.
He wrote, “We need to rent a crane to remove heavy concrete blocks. If anyone has information about where we can rent, please contact us.”
