KARACHI: Sindh Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon presided over a meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi on Friday and ordered cameras and trackers installation in dumpers and other heavy vehicles by their owners within three months.
Sindh police issued a formal notice to the truck and dumper owners to put cameras, trackers and protective shields around the vehicles within three months.
The meeting was attended by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Zaidi, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odo, Provincial Transport Secretary Asad Zaman, Karachi Zonal Dugs, Driving License, Traffic, District and Traffic SSPS, and other officers.
The meeting was told that in the past few months, in Karachi, especially in Malir and Western districts, traffic accidents have seen a remarkable increase and the main causes of these accidents have been the cause of unmanned drivers, cars and road conditions, the absence of drivers and abuse of drivers.
Therefore, it is important to prevent accidents, it is important that driving training/courses should not only be compatible with international standards but also ensure the establishment of authentic driving schools at public and private levels.
Commissioner Naqvi said that both heavy and light vehicles are equally responsible for deadly and deadly traffic accidents on the roads and highways. Therefore, it is important that we work together to ensure immediate action to prevent traffic accidents and make citizens safe.
Transport Secretary Assad Land said that the department has officially started the fitness inspection of commercial vehicles across the city. In addition, two fitness centers have been set up in the province, while six more will be activated in the next few months. On this occasion, he also advised that the driving license of various categories, especially the licenses of commercial vehicles, should be made mandatory under the certificate from authentic driving schools.
Additional IG Odo said that heavy vehicles have been demanded to develop an immediate strategy with stakeholders for the installation of trackers and cameras, while the establishment of a motor training school is needed at this time, so we have to set up a school under the public private partnership immediately.
Sindh IGP said that the owners of trucks and dumpers should ensure the installation of cameras, trackers and protective shields around the wheels /wheels in vehicles within three months so that all such vehicles can be examined and taken against them.
In addition, truck drivers and owners should also be informed about the use of cameras and trackers and precautions installed in vehicles. He said that installation of dashboard, cabin cameras and back/tail camera should also be made mandatory to evaluate the drivers’ behavior so that in the event of any traffic accident, all necessary legal proceedings can be very solid and integrated.
He directed the Traffic Engineering Bureau to regularly determine the speed limit of heavy vehicles operating on the highways and display boards in this regard on the sides of the highways. He added that a proposal containing all the necessary and viable documents should be sent to the Sindh government to create a traffic authority to make the traffic engineering bureau, while formal recommendations should be sent to the government for drivers’ dope/fatigue tests, to pay for chels, to pay for non -payment of chels.
In addition, an immediate strategy should also be developed on the orders of the Chief Minister to build six highways of the Karachi model. The IGP directed that the police, excise, transport, traffic police and other agencies should be digitally linked to traffic issues.
According to a report by the team analyzing the Karachi Road accident, most of them have been found involved in traffic accidents. Therefore, the fitting of the necessary accessories in all such vehicles should be made at the provincial level, which aims to prevent any person or motorcycle from coming down the vehicles and to prevent fatal accidents.
