On Monday night, authorities restored traffic to the Karachi Press Club (KPC) and nearby areas around the surrounding areas when the city’s residents had a long traffic call between the Baloch Youth Committee (BEC) protest against the recent arrest of the group led by the group in Quetta.
Roads around the KPC were closed for all traffic to counter the expected protests by the BEC.
Authorities in Port City also enforced Section 144 and banned all public gatherings.
BEC leader Dr Mehrang Baloch was detained with 17 others during a police raid at his protest camp in Quetta on Saturday. The BEC announced a protest in the PC against the detention of its leaders.
Earlier in the day, both tracks were blocked for traffic from Din Muhammad Wafai Road to Fara Chowk.
Meanwhile, KPC President Fazaljamili strongly condemned the ban on road closures and the movement of journalists around the club.
In a statement, the KPC president called on Sindh IG to take notice of the “illegal act”. He called on the Sindh Police Chief to issue orders to clear roads around the KPC.
It is important to mention here that Dr. Mehrang, along with 17 others, is currently being held in Quetta District Jail under Section 3 of the Public Order (MPO) Ordinance Rehabilitation.
His name was included in 150 people, including prominent BEC leaders, including allegations of various serious crimes such as terrorism, inciting rebellion and murder.
On Saturday, the first information report (FIR) registered at the Sarib police station (FIR), called Babu Baloch, Gulzadi Satakzai, Sabiya Baloch, Sabatullah Baloch, Gulzar Dost, Riaz Gashkori, Dr. Shali Baloch and others also kept the accused in the accused.

The FIR, which was registered at the Civil Lines police station in Quetta last week, said that 100 to 150 people attacked medical facilities last week and after the BEC leadership publication, the bodies of the attackers involved in the Jafar Express train attack were forced.
The FIR states that the accused stopped a private ambulance at Hockey Chowk, defeated the driver, and brought the bodies to an ambulance.
In addition, another FIR was filed against BEC leaders Gulzadi Baloch, Ali Jan, Shoaib, Syed Noor Shah, Waheed, Jahanzeb, Zubab Baloch, and more than 100 others at the Breewory police station in Quetta.
In this case, people have been accused of blocking the Western Bypass Road on Saturday, while slogans against the state and its institutions were incited by public unrest.
It is worth noting that under the leadership of Mehrang, the protesters started sitting on Friday night with bodies on Sarb Road. Later, the next day, police launched a crackdown against the protesters, which arrested Mehrang and several others.
According to police, the arrest of Maharang has not yet been officially disclosed, and he is not in the custody of the Civil Lines police but is being kept in the district jail, possibly under section 3 or 16 MPOs.
