ISLAMABAD: Amid the growing terrorist attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) today (Tuesday), the National Security Committee for National Security (PCNS) is ready to attend the country’s civil -military leadership at an important Income Meeting.
On the advice of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, a meeting convened by NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq will be held at 11am at 11 am and will present a comprehensive briefing to the parliamentary committee on the current security situation by military leadership.
According to the Prime Minister’s political and public affairs assistant Rana Sanaullah, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and his team, including Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry and others, will attend the meeting and inform the team’s lawmakers.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants have surfaced a few days after last week’s Harong attack, which blew the train tracks and made more than 440 passengers a day with security services in a remote hill pass in Bolan district.
The army said after clearing the train and rescued the hostages, 33 attackers were killed. Before the operation began, the terrorists had martyred 26 passengers, while four security personnel were martyred during the operation.
The passengers of the martyr train included 18 security personnel and FC security personnel, three Pakistan Railway officials and other departments and five civilians.
The closed door meeting is also to be taken in the context of the dangerous figures revealed in the report of the World Terrorism Index 2025, in which Pakistan has been declared the second most affected country through terrorism.
This country,-has been placed from its former fourth position to second-has witnessed a 45 % increase in terrorism related deaths and increased from 748 to 2024 in 2023.
The number of terrorist attacks increased from 517 to more than doubled in 2023, in 2024, which also marked the first year that the attacks exceeded the number 1,000 since the beginning of the index.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have become the most affected provinces – which also distribute a border with neighboring Afghanistan – more than 96 % of terrorist attacks and deaths in Pakistan in 2024.
Do not attend the PTI high -level hood
All these important meetings will be against the backdrop of the current political polarization as Pakistan Tehreek -e -Justice (PTI) has announced that if its leaders are not allowed to meet with the founder of the prisoner in the prison, it will leave the camera session.
In a statement issued after the meeting last night, the party’s political committee insisted that its leaders should meet Khan before attending the important National Assembly meeting today. The PTI made it clear that its participation in the meeting was permanent to meet their demands.
The PTI’s position came a day after the Multi-Party Opposition Alliance, when Mahmud Khan Achakzai, headed by Mahmud Khan Achakzai, announced its decision to boycott the meeting. In addition, Balochistan National Party-Mangal (BNPM) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, chairman of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-Muslimin (MWM), announced that their parties would not attend the meeting.
However, sources have said that KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandpur will attend the camera meeting, represent PTI leaders, and his province who have faced terrorist attacks.
Sources added that Gandpur has been informed about the security situation of KP before the parliamentary habitat.
