QUETTA: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said Thursday that Pakistan cannot move on the path of development without eliminating the threat of terrorism in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a high -level meeting on the law and order situation in Quetta, Prime Minister Shahbaz paid tribute to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and security forces for successfully recovering 339 Jaffar Express passengers, who had made a terrorist area in the province.
The Prime Minister added, “The terrorists who attacked the train did not even care about the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan.”
Stressing the need for joint efforts to tackle terrorism, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan cannot afford such an accident.
Appreciating the unprecedented sacrifices made by the security forces in the backdrop of the Jaffar Express hijacking incident, Prime Minister Shahbaz said that malicious propaganda against soldiers and martyrs would not be tolerated.
The Prime Minister added, “Pakistan cannot prosper unless Balochistan is brought equal to other provinces in terms of development.”
Criticizing the PTI, without the name of the former ruling party, the Prime Minister said that terrorism was once again raising its head in the country, causing those who had “cordial relations” with the Taliban.

The premiere came to light when security forces abolished all 33 Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) terrorists who hijacked the Jaffar Express, in which more than 400 passengers were taken hostage on Tuesday.

Saying that all the hostages were released, an army spokesman revealed that 21 passengers were martyred by terrorists before the clearance operation began. In addition, four FC personnel were also martyred during the attack in the Mashkaf area of Bolan district.

Meanwhile, with an emergency emergency in Sibi and Civil Hospital Quetta, at least 29 were injured in the Jaffar Express incident.
According to the hospital administration, the injured passengers are in a stable condition and are at risk. Also, 47 passengers have been shifted from Mach to Quetta.
