PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken another step to ensure global health coverage by incorporating free OPD (outpatient department) services in the curse card plus, under the direction of Chief Minister Amin Gandpur.

Members of the provincial cabinet, members of the National and Provincial Assembly and officials from the health department attended the event. The OPD scheme is being launched as a pilot project in Mardan District, which has benefited 50,000 deserving families.
In the second phase, the scheme will be extended to Chitral, Malakand and Kohat districts. Under this scheme, medication, medical tests, and health care services will be provided free. The Pilot Project is being launched in partnership with the German organization’s FW and will be further expanded in the future.
Based on the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) data, about 120 120,000 households from the above mentioned four districts will benefit from this facility. Free OPD services at the Union Council level will be available not only on the Seat Card Panel but also in hospitals but also on all basic health units (BHU) and Rural Health Centers (RHC).
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become the first province to provide free OPD services under Seat Card Plus.
