The Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI) has demanded the judiciary to announce its decision on its requests regarding fraud in the alleged votes during the 2024 general elections and its decision on the 26th Constitution amendment to the judiciary. Apart from this, political prisoners of release should be emphasized in its founder, Amran Khan. .
These demands were made at a joint press conference in Islamabad on Monday of PTI leaders, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Omar Ayub Khan, Shobeli Faraz, and Salman Akram Raja.
Gohar criticized the fact, saying, “The nation has passed a year after giving the PTI a mandate,” the “Form 47” government has been formed by bulldozing the majority.
The former ruling party chairman alleged that his party filed 74 petitions against rigging in the vote during the February 8 elections, however, the courts have failed to announce any decision till date.
Subsequently, he also criticized the 26th constitutional amendment-which was a judicial-based legislation approved by the two Houses of Parliament in October last year.
He highlighted that under the 26th Amendment, about 46 46 judges were appointed for the higher judiciary, including 12 in Sindh, 10 in Peshawar, nine in Lahore, three in Balochistan and two in Islamabad. –
It is worth mentioning here that appointments from the Supreme Court criticized some of the Supreme Court judges, legal community and PTI, which boycotted the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).
The opposition party and SC judges demanded the postponement of the JCP meetings unless the cases against the 26th Amendment were decided.
Repeating the demand, Gohar said that the case related to the controversial constitutional amendment should be heard and decided by the judiciary.
Addressing the press conference, Ayub demanded the judiciary to stand for the rule of law and release all political prisoners, including the party’s founder Khan, who have been behind bars since August 2023.
“The judges of the Anti -Terrorism Courts will have to take a stand.”
He added that former Prime Minister Khan, former first woman Bashara, PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmood-e-Azzid, Hassan Niazi, and other political prisoners who should be released.
Ayub claimed that the jail facilities had been withdrawn from Khan, which he deserved as the former Prime Minister of the country. He also alleged that the PTI founder was banned from accessing it. [Adiala] Jail
Criticizing the current government, the NA opposition leader claimed that the rulers were making false claims of economic progress and inflation.
He added that no one is ready for investment because of the current situation.
PTI Secretary General Raja also addressed the press conference and reaffirmed the demand for the appointment of more judges in the electoral tribunals. He criticized that only two jurists were appointed in the tribunals hearing the relevant petitions in Punjab.
The senior lawyer said that there is no legal basis in the current parliament as the facts of the stolen mandate cannot be hidden.
Opposition leader Shobeli Faraz in the Senate said that the country cannot see political stability until there is free and fair elections. He also emphasized the law that aims to provide relief to the nation.
The opposition party has accelerated efforts to form a great opposition coalition, as Kaz Khan proposed to launch anti -government protests after Eid.
Unlike the former ruling party’s strategy, PTI founder’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry said two days ago that the PTI focuses on some objectives, including the restoration of the constitution and democracy.
He further said that Khan has ordered Assad Qaiser to contact all opposition parties, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Fazal (Joy-F), Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s Pakhtunkhwa Milli Oomi Party (PKMA P), Shahid Khazan Abbasi’s Awam Democrat, Grand Democratic, Beni Gand Democratic Alliance. GDA), Jamaat -e -Islami (G), Maharang Baloch, and others.
Since Khan withdrew from power, PTI has in the past set up a series of anti -government protests. However, they suddenly ended after violent clashes between protesters and law enforcement.
After Khan’s arrest in 2023, the party’s protest became violent as several government and military installations were targeted by protesters on May 9, resulting in the arrests and military trials of the accused.
The country once again witnessed intense clashes between law enforcement and protesters when they staged a protest rally in Islamabad on November 26, 2024.
