Multan: The West Indies took a thin lead of nine runs over Pakistan on Saturday as the spinners dominated on the first day of the second Test in Multan, Naaman Ali hit a hat -trick for the home side.
Jomel Warrican 4-43 and Gudakesh Motie took 3-49 wickets as Pakistan was dismissed for 154 in reply to the West Indian first innings score of 163.
Left-wing Noman became the first Pakistani spinner to hit the hat-trick in the test during 6-41 as the West Indies won the toss and batted on a lunch stroke in 41.1 overs. “It is an honor for me to do a hat -trick in my name,” Naaman said. “We need to get them out quickly and do not have to give expensive runs like the first innings.”
But the guests retaliated with a shock because the spinners fell 16 wickets – the first day of the test, the highest in terms of bowling.
Earlier, the record was 14 in Leeds between England and South Africa in 1907.
West Indian bowling coach James Franklin said the team has presented “fighting performances”.
“If we can post a total of 200 or more, a real belief is that Jomel and Gudakesh can come to us and give us victory,” said Franklin, a former New Zealand all -rounder.
Only Mohammad Rizwan (49) for the Home Side and Saud Shakeel (32) added 68 runs for the fifth wicket, before Pakistan was all out of 119-4 to 154-the last six wickets 35. Lose the runs.
Fast bowler Camar Roach dismissed openers Mohammad Harra (nine) and Sean Masood (15), while Moti sent Babar Azam (a) and Kamran Ghulam (16) to leave Pakistan at 51-4. In the aftermath of tea sessions, Shakeel was caught by Roach in a deep -caught – who hurt his waist but completed the catch – while Rizwan was stumped, both fell on the warrior.
Moti defeated Salman Agha 9 while the last player Kashif Ali was dismissed without any runs. Earlier, the West Indies were defeated 7-38 in which Sajid Khan 2-64 and Noman were harmed.
It could have been worse for tourists if fat – who scored 55 runs in career – did not add priceless 68 runs for the last wicket with Warcan, who scored 36 not out with two sixes.
Fat also added 41 runs for the ninth wicket with Roach (25) to delay the lunch break, before Noman took the last two wickets to get the eighth five wickets in an innings.
Pakistan used the same spin heavy strategy that in the first Test – in Multan – in Multan – already turned the ball from the first over and won by 127 runs.
Naaman came to bowl as a first change, and West Indian captain Craig Brathwaite caught a leg trapped in a nine-score, which saw the tourists fell from 32-2 to 38-8 off just 14 balls.
