ISLAMABAD: After the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued flood warnings, about 150 150,000 residents have been shifted to protection from weak districts, which has caused heavy rainfall and water emissions from India to India.
Since then, authorities have warned of possible floods in adjoining districts as the rivers continue to flourish.
Following the preliminary warnings, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab launched evacuation operations in unsafe areas, in which thousands of residents were transferred from Bahawalnagar, Kasur, Okara, Pakapton, Bahawalpur and Wahari.
Hundreds of villages have been evacuated on the back of the three rivers.
About 40,000 people have moved themselves immediately after preliminary suggestions, the NDMA said. Emergency reaction teams were deployed while all the concerned departments were placed on high alert to protect lives and property.
Citizens have been urged to stay away from rivers, rivers and lower areas, avoid unnecessary travel, and strictly follow the safety instructions circulating through television, radio, mobile alerts, and pure NDMAs Disaster alert app.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities on Monday to ensure timely evacuation of the trapped population in the wake of the flood tournament.
Flooding situation in rivers
According to the NDMA, the flood situation is important in large rivers. The stalge has entered a very high flood phase in certain places, while other places along the river are facing more than medium -sized floods.
The narrator keeps looking at the growing level of water, with the middle floods on some sites and the lower levels on others, and its support, including its Business, Ben, and DEG, are also in the middle of the middle flood. The Indus River is facing middle floods on the score and low floods are occurring in Kalabag, Chashma, Gadu and Kotri Barrage.
Chenab Heads has entered a low flood in Marala, while its support is also witnessing low levels. The flow of water is normal in Jhelum, Kabul and Nari rivers, and the mountain tuor in the Suleiman Range and Dera Ghazi Khan Division are currently not active.
Water reservoirs are also filling, Tarbela is almost complete and close to Mangla’s capacity, while Khanpur, Rawal and Samli Dam are also recording the rising water level.
Authorities in Punjab have directed deputy commissioners and commissioners to remain vigilant in Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan. Announcements are being made by mosques that residents have been urged to move to safer places, while arrangements for relief camps and fodder families and their livestock have been arranged.
It should be noted that Punjab province, which works for the country’s bread basket and is a large part of its food supply.
The latest warnings this week follow New Delhi’s two official contacts to inform Islamabad about planned water emissions. India’s Madhur headworks have already increased the arrival of the narrator, while the water in Sutlej by India has submerged some parts of southern Punjab.
Sources in an Indian government said they did not mention any specific dam but shared another warning through diplomatic channels.
The NDMA added that heavy rainfall predicted in Indian states, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, could further flourish the rivers and rivers flowing towards Pakistan. Its National Emergency Operation Center is overseeing the 24 -hour situation.
Diplomatic sources confirmed that the High Commission of India in Islamabad had warned the Pakistani Foreign Ministry on the “humanitarian grounds” instead of the Indus Waters Commission under the Indus Wates Agreement (IWT). This development was due to surprise when New Delhi announced in April that it was illegally occupying the decades of dealing with tourists in Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The recent decision to suspend India’s agreement increased tensions between two nuclear weapons neighbors, which led to the most serious military conflict in the decades in May, before the ceasefire was broken by the United States.
Reuters has reported that Delhi is also considering projects that can reduce flow in Pakistan, which raises concerns in Islamabad.
The northwest of Pakistan has been subjected to severe floods, which have calculated half of the 799 people in this monsoon season. The northern region of Gilgit -Baltistan has suffered a sharp melting, while the southern city of Karachi was partially submerged last week.
Heavy rains in the IIOJK have killed at least 60 people this month, while about 400 400 have been killed in northwestern Pakistan. According to the NDMA, since the beginning of the monsoon in late June, floods across the country have killed a total of 799 people, which has warned about heavy rainfall until September 10.
The Foreign Office reiterated that India’s unilateral declaration agreement is “a serious violation of international law” with the potential consequences of peace and stability in South Asia to declare the agreement of India. He emphasized that India was bound to fully comply with the IWT provisions.
What is the Sindh Waters Agreement?
Arbitration by the World Bank and the Indus Waters Agreement signed in the 1960s goes on the water sharing between the two countries. In this agreement, three East Rivers – Sutlej, Beas and Ravi – were allotted to India, while Pakistan was given control over the three Western rivers, Indus, Jhelum and Chenab.
The agreement does not have any arrangements for any country unilaterally suspended or terminating the deal, which includes dispute resolution procedures.
Pakistan fears that India may disrupt the water supply, which can endanger agriculture and hydropower, while New Delhi has warned that it will not restore the deal unless Islamabad supports the “worst” militancy.
