US President Donald Trump may talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier next week, according to an administration official. Washington is still ready to launch secondary sanctions on Friday to increase pressure on Moscow to stop the Ukraine war.
In June 2021, Joe Biden, who met Putin in Geneva, will meet such a meeting between the US and the Russian president, a few months before Russia invaded Ukraine and launched the biggest attack on a European nation after World War II.
Putin and Ukrainian President Wolodmeer Zillinsky have not been meeting since December 2019 and have no secrets for each other.
The New York Times reports that Trump told European leaders during a call on Wednesday that he intends to meet Putin and then follow the Russian leader and a trilateral in Zilnski.
“The Russians expressed their desire to meet President Trump, and is open to meet President President Putin and President Zelaninski,” White House press secretary Karolway Lavite said in response to the report.
The White House official said Trump Patin could be held next week.
A German government spokesman said that Trump provided information about the status of a dialogue with Russia during a call with the German Chancellor and other European heads.
After the meeting between Putin and the US Special Envoy Steve Watkov on Wednesday, details came out that Trump had said that “major growth” had achieved.
Trump has come two days before Russia’s last date to agree on peace in Ukraine or to face new sanctions.
Trump has been disappointed with Putin for lack of progress against peace and has threatened to threaten to impose heavy taxes on countries that buy Russian exports, including oil.
The White House official said that when the meeting went well and was desperate to engage with the United States, Moscow was anxious to engage with the United Nations, the secondary sanctions that Trump threatened against the countries trading with Russia is still expected to be implemented on Friday. Pressure on India
