KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday suspended the provincial Ombudsman’s directive to dismiss the Electric (KE) chief executive officer (CEO) Monius Alvi, who had previously been convicted of harassing a female employee.
The court announced a verdict on the petition filed by the K -Electric CEO, in which an attempt was made to terminate the order of the Sindh Provincial Ombudsman.
This development came after a day of Sindh Ombudsman to protect women in workplaces when it ordered the removal of Alvi for protection for protection against harassment of women at workplaces, along with a sentence of Rs 2.5 million.
Former Chief Marketing and Communication Officer of the Power Company filed a complaint, which included CEO Alvi, Chief People’s Officer Rizwan Dalia, Chief of Security Colonel (Rated) Wahid Asghar and Member of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Board HR Committee, and the chairman of the HRM, and the chairman of the board.
The CEO of K -Electric appeared before the court today with his lawyer, Barrister Abid Zabri.
During the hearing, SHC’s Justice Faisal Kamal Alam questioned the Ombudsman’s order on a legal basis and asked what was wrong in this decision.
On which, Monius Alvi’s lawyer argued that the Federal Ombudsman has the authority to hear the case, not a provincial Ombudsman and declares his client’s removal and punishment illegal.
After hearing the arguments, the court suspended the order of the provincial Ombudsman and directed the KK Executive Officer to submit a fine of Rs 25 lakh with the court’s registry.
The SHC also issued notices to the provincial Ombudsman and the complainant in the matter.
‘Conservative and elderly society’
In his written order, the Ombudsman Sussein Justice (RTD) Shahnawaz Tariq observed that the allegations of sexual harassment were abusive in nature and showed the dark side of the corporate sector.
“In our Conservatives and the elderly society, it is usually difficult for a woman to fear such a serious disturbing incident because of the fear of a career potential in the future, fearing its anti -allegations against her role, and its dignity, self -esteem and self -esteem, the main name of self -esteem, and self -esteem.
He noted, “In any case, the employer, the supervisor, or the manager has no right to humiliate, humiliate, or abuse his subordinates, especially women, because the employer’s aggressive behavior has been considered under Section 2 (H) of Act, 2010.
“In fact, the characteristic of harassment at the workplace is a permanent style of gender, power relationships, or abuse infected by classification, which promotes an atmosphere of fear and oppression at work. Sexual harassment is widely recognized as a reflection of the dynamics of power, and its relationship with its own relationship, rather than a reflection of the dynamics of power. The deep relationship is highlighted, which highlights its deep relationships and its deep relationships are highlighted.
In his defense, Monius Alvi said the complainant’s services were terminated a month before his complaint, and so he was not an employee of KE and the allegations made in the complaint do not fall under the scope of harassment.
He denied that the culture in KE is irrelevant, sexy and unpleasant for women and men, but the company believes in equal occasions for women and men, while the HR is actively vigilant in any mismanagement and has also constituted an inquiry committee in the case of Act.
He said he was extremely professional with extraordinary performance records and enjoyed good reputation in the industry, but the complainant had made false accusations against him only for revenge for his elimination.
‘Deepening of the heart’
On the social media platform X (known as Twitter), K-Actic CEO Alvi said that he has always maintained the values of integrity and dignity in professional dialogue, and he is keenly believing in promoting safe and comprehensive workplaces for all.
He said: “The recent decision is deeply painful to me. When I respect the legal action and the institutions that maintain it, I should state that these results do not reflect the reality of this situation as I have experienced it, but not just a personal, but not a personal journey.”
“This is for everyone who feels wrong to hear. I am determined to make sure that the truth is fully exposed, all lawful sources are available.
“In the meantime, I am grateful for the support of those who know me, who have worked with me, and who believe in the proper process. My respect for the principles of justice and workplace is irreversible.”
