The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is celebrating its 98th birthday this year. The PLA has made a long journey. It started as a revolutionary group and, through continuous improvement in modernization and investment, has become a tremendous force today.
One of the unique aspects of the PLA is that it not only invests in its development but also helps the armed forces of friendly countries grow, in which Pakistani armed forces are one of them and the most prominent. Since the late 1950s, the PLA and Pakistan Armed Forces have established a strong relationship. The bond is permanently developing under the leadership of China’s Communist Party (CPC) and Pakistan.
The CPC and Pakistan leadership have devised a wise, multi -dimensional and comprehensive policy and framework to advance cooperation. The CPC handed over the PLA, and Pakistan handed over the armed forces to enforce leadership vision. Since then, the PLA and Pakistan have been working hard to strengthen and deepen relations and ensure implementation of cooperation policies.
Cooperation analysis shows that the armed forces of the two countries work together in several levels and areas. Over time, they have improved cooperation in technology, modern war, joint exercises, and intelligence sharing through surveillance. The PLA has helped the Pakistani Armed Forces help Pakistan enhance its capabilities to help facilitate the current and future challenges by creating productive facilities and self -sufficiency. For example, the navy of the two countries is working closely to protect the oceans and trade routes. Pakistan is acquiring Chinese advanced technologies, such as Chinese frigates (type 054A/P), guided missile frigate Togart, and submarines.
Pakistan and China have also strengthened their cooperation in the air domain, and the two countries are cooperating in the development of a strong and reliable air defense system. They have achieved many milestones simultaneously. During the recent war with India, the dominance of the Pakistan Air Force can be supported by the success of their cooperation, which has been increasing over decades. After the war, the two Air Force agreed to expand and deepen their cooperation in new areas. The PLA Ground Forces and the Pakistan Army have also developed a close bond and a unique relationship. Relationships are unique because both forces have full confidence in each other. Therefore, they work together in different domains without fear of cheating or cheating. Cooperation is from joint training exercises to mutual production of weapons. China has helped Pakistan to develop modern weapons and establish productive facilities like heavy complexes among others.
The armed forces of the two countries have also established strong links for training and joint exercises. They have created a permanent mechanism to ensure the continuation of training and joint exercises. PLA Air Force and Pakistan Air Force conduct regular exercises under the ‘Shaheen’ series. The ships organize ‘Sea Guardians’. In addition, the PLA Ground Forces and the Pakistan Army jointly conduct exercises in the name of ‘Warrior’.
It is worth noting that the Armed Forces also played a significant role in accelerating economic cooperation and led the implementation of many projects. For example, the PLA and Pakistani forces jointly built the Karakoram Highway in the world’s most difficult region. Now, the Pakistani army is ensuring CPEC investment in Pakistan. Moreover, the armed forces are contributing to the country’s foreign exchange income. For example, JF-17 Thunder jointly developed is a good source of foreign income for Pakistan.
Recently. , Relations between the two countries’ armed forces are deeply rooted, diverse and comprehensive. Relationships have faced all the challenges, and instead of weakening, it has become stronger with everyone. The most prominent feature of the PLA and Pakistan Armed Forces is that it is not a directive against a particular country or a third party. This relationship is designed to maintain and strengthen the region and beyond.
However, this relationship is now entering a new era, which features challenges and obstacles. The struggle for domination and domination has intensified. Geo -political changes are taking place at an extraordinary pace. The only global superpower is in the United States, withdrawal, and over the past decade, its policies and measures have intensified this process. The United States, once a supporter of globalization, is now working to change this trend. It is busy building walls and destroying bridges. President Trump’s trade policies seem to be the last blow.
The Russia-Ukrainian war has destabilized world peace and economy to some extent. It is a constant disturbing rather than a threat to stability, peace and development in Europe and the Eurasian region. Palestinian genocide has broken the image of the civilized world and exposes the ugly face of the so -called human rights of the West. India’s hedimonic aspirations and excessive wishes are destabilizing South Asia and creating problems in the surrounding areas of China. The Indian attitude led the region on the path to nuclear war.
On the other hand, the United States and its allies are strongly opposed to the peaceful rise of China. They are targeting China on every front, including the Belt and Road Initiative. He is also pressing Pakistan to reduce its relations with China and come out of the CPEC.
In this context, the armed forces of the two countries should be vigilant and all necessary steps must be taken to tackle geographical political risks and take all necessary steps to protect their relations. It is worth noting that the two armed forces are aware of this situation and are improving their relations in response to new facts and developing needs. First, they have intensified cooperation in the field of technology in all defense sectors. China has intensified efforts to enhance Pakistan’s ability and capacity to develop modern defense equipment.
Second, they are focusing on making joint training and a strong mechanism for exercise. It is fully needed in the context of regional dynamics and global geopolitics. We have seen in the past that the United States, its allies and the region have intensified its efforts to create problems for China and Pakistan. The most important example is the quad, especially designed to control China and Pakistan. The United States is also engaging in quad countries and other allies to conduct joint exercises.
Thirdly, both forces have increased their harmony to stay updated in changing dynamics. This helps them to prepare future challenges and unexpected conditions. This is also needed because they are running malicious campaigns, which aims to create misunderstandings between the two countries. They are also trying to confuse the seeds of mistrust about Muslims in China.
Finally, the PLA and Pakistan Armed Forces should further strengthen their relations in the changing geographical political land to maintain a strategic balance of South Asia and beyond. It is widely known that Western countries are positioning India as an alternative to China. Therefore, they prefer to develop Indian capability to cooperate with India and to counter China by selling all kinds of weapons. At the same time, they impose sanctions on Pakistan to stop the purchase of their weapons. In this context, China and Pakistan are likely to deepen their cooperation, and it is encouraging that both troops are already working on it.
