Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday called for the establishment of low extraction passages to mobilize climate financing and to strengthen environmental cooperation between members of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
Addressing the 17th ECO summit in Khani, the Prime Minister has warned that climate change poses a serious threat to the protection of food and the livelihood of millions of people throughout the region. He called for joint action to tackle the growing crisis of the environmental crisis.
“Deep cooperation between ECO members is essential to create flexibility and ensure sustainable development while increasing environmental and political uncertainty,” he said.
The Prime Minister said, “Pakistan is the highest risk of climate change among the most 10 countries, remembering the devastating floods of 2022 displaced more than 33 million people in Pakistan.
He also called for the establishment of low emission passages and the establishment of a regional carbon market to increase climate support in Eco -Member countries.
The Prime Minister thanked the ECO member states for nominating Lahore as the capital of Eco -Tourism for 2027, and invited all delegates to experience the full cultural heritage of Pakistan.
He added, “Lahore, which is the cultural heart of Pakistan, will attract all the people we meet. We invite all the member states a passionate invitation.”
Israeli attacks ‘illegal’
Condemning the recent Israeli strike on Iran, the Prime Minister called it “illegal, unprecedented and unauthorized” and expressed deep condolences to the Iranian people.
He added, “Pakistan strongly condemns this process of Israeli aggression … We pray for the early recovery of our wounded brothers and sisters in Iran.”
In addition, he said that the indiscriminate and reckless Indian enmity directed by Pakistan after the Pahalgam incident is another attempt to destabilize regional peace.
He also praised the support and solidarity of Pakistan’s expansion by Brotherly ECO member states earlier this year for the support and solidarity of Pakistan’s expansion.
Prime Minister Shahbaz also strongly condemned Israel’s brutality in Gaza, saying: “Pakistan stands firmly against those who committed brutal activities against innocent people anywhere in the world, whether they are in Gaza or Ijak or Iran.”
The Prime Minister also drew attention to the weapons of water weapons through India, citing the recent decision of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) violations of New Delhi and the recent decision of a permanent mediation court.
He added, “This violation is completely unacceptable. Sindh water is a life line for 240 million people in Pakistan. India’s actions are equivalent to aggression.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Turkish President Erdo ۔an at the 17th Economy Summit in Khani, Azerbaijan.
The two leaders conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral relations and exchanged views about key regional developments.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to meaningful progress in bilateral relations between the two countries in all major fields.
He also held a meeting with Iranian President Masood Pazeshakian and confirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to continue working closely for peace with Iran through dialogue and diplomacy.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the bilateral cooperation in all sectors and expressed satisfaction over the progress made on the decisions made during their last meeting to further strengthen Pakistan -Iran relations.
The two leaders also discussed the evolutionary regional situation in the context of Israel’s illegal aggression against Iran.
The Prime Minister also met with the President of Azerbaijan al -Hamayev to enhance his cooperation in the trade and investment sectors, while expressing satisfaction over the progress of investment prospects.
A statement issued by the State News Agency said that the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen economic partnerships, especially in Pakistan, investing Azerbaijan.
Moreover, Prime Minister Shahbaz met Uzbek President Shukat Mirziov.
During the meeting, the two leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in diverse sectors, including trade and investment, connectivity, energy, regional security, culture, and public exchange of public.
