LAHORE: During the country’s ongoing efforts to prevent the threat of terrorism, the Punjab Anti -Terrorism Department (CTD) has foiled a major terrorist plot during the recent crackdown called “Operation Yelghar” and has arrested six Indian intelligence agency research wing for India’s intelligence agency.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Punjab Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations of Punjab Shahzad Sultan – CTD’s SSP Operations and Ezim said that police officers have revealed that two workers, Aslam and Akbar Ali, were acquired directly from Bahana Nagar directly.
He added that the terrorists were in contact with Indian intelligence officers, identified as RAW Ravindra Rathore and Inspector Singh.
The CTD operation has reaffirmed Pakistan’s concerns about India’s destructive strategy in the region and New Delhi’s involvement in the sponsorship of terrorist attacks within Pakistan.
India has been involved in state patronage for the past 20 years, Director General of International Services Public Relations (DGISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said last month after a bombing of children after a bombing on a school bus in Khwaja, Balochistan.
Under their pressure, CTD officials revealed that the arrested persons planned to attack Bahawalpur and explosives, detonators, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), security fuses and secret maps, who had received instructions for the attack.
In addition, three other alleged raw agents – Azam alias Jaji, Manzoor alias Qari (both from Bahawalnagar), and Amjad from Pakpaton were arrested from Toba Tek Singh.
Meanwhile, Zulfiqar, an important facilitator in financing these activities from Dubai, was assisted in Bahawalpur.
CTD Punjab has also stopped audio talks between suspects and Indian intelligence officers and terrorists. The recording includes talks about allegedly targeted casualties and attacks on sensitive places.
Talking to reporters, AIG Sultan stressed that India was trying to destabilize Pakistan through terrorist operations, but security agencies were fully prepared to thwart such efforts.
The police officer assured that no compromise would be made on the security of the country.
The crackdown came in May 2025 against a slight increase in militant attacks, which reflects a 5 % increase in attacks compared to April, with data released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICS), based in Islamabad.
According to the PICS monthly security diagnosis, 85 militant attacks were recorded in May, which increased from 81 to 81 in April.
The incident resulted in 113 deaths, including 52 security forces personnel, 46 civilians, 11 militants, and four members of the peace committees. This month, 182 people were injured, including 130 civilians, 47 security personnel, four militants, and members of a peace committee.
Civilian injuries were also dramatically observed by a 145 % increase, which increased from 130 to 130 in May, which highlighted the increasing effects of militant activities on the general public. On the contrary, security personnel were injured by 20 %, which increased to 59 to 47.
Combining militant attacks and security operations, the overall crash toll for May was 172, including 57 security personnel, 65 militants, 46 civilians, and four members of the Peace Committee.
A total of 194 people were injured, including 130 civilians, 54 security personnel, nine militants, and members of a peace committee. During the month, militants kidnapped at least 19 people.
