Regarding political and public affairs, Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah said on Wednesday that the federal government was ready to oppose all matters, but it was declared a hindrance to the political dispute resolved by Amran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Ansif (PTI).
Sanaullah’s statement came after a meeting between the government and the opposition lawmakers to discuss the federal budget.
Talking to Geo News, the senior leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League -N (PML -N) said that the government was ready to negotiate with opposition on all political issues but it was not involved in the PTI founder’s position.
He said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif gave a clear invitation to the opposition on the floor of the House besides presenting a meeting to the opposition lawmakers in the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Commenting on the agenda of the meeting, Sanaullah said that he discussed issues with the lawmakers of Kharmar Pakhtunnahwa, which were first related to the implementation of GST in FATA/Pata.
He added that the decision to impose GST in the tribal areas was stopped for a year and a committee discussed the matter in the meetings.
The Prime Minister’s Assistant said that tax exemptions and other privileges were retained as per the decisions made in the meetings in the past, however, the Chamber of Commerce and Industries expressed reservations.
Sources told Geo News that the government and opposition legislators discussed budget issues in the Parliament House, especially in the former FATA/Peta matters.
He further said that Sanaullah and Aamir Muqim represented the government while Assad Qaiser and Junaid Akbar were part of the PTI delegation who participated in the consultation process.
The meeting was also attended by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman, former FATA/Pita and KP lawmakers.
Sources said that the Prime Minister’s Advisor assured the PTI delegation to resolve these issues through the federal government.
Steel, edible oil and ghee industries are deeply concerned about the government’s intention to amend the budget budget from the former Finance/Peta tax exemption in the Final Finance Act 2024-25.
Representatives of the sector say that under political pressure, the government is fully prepared to withdraw/overturn the amendments to FATA/Peta announced in the Finance Bill.
The report states that steel, edible oil and ghee industry will be on a strike indefinitely against the move, which aims to support fare seekers at the cost of the entire industry.
Responding to a question about Emma Khan’s “minus Imran Khan” remarks, Sanaullah said: “In my political experience, no one can be eliminated by power by force, however, people, [politicians] It should be separated because of their undemocratic behavior. “
A day ago, the former prime minister’s sister, Elmah, reacted to the claims that her brother was no longer relevant in the country’s politics as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, led by the PTI, had approved the provincial budget for the financial year 2025-2220.
Talking to media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Emma said: “I think, minus Imran Khan has happened”, and expressed his displeasure over the approval of the KP budget without the approval of the PTI founder.
Emphasizing the need for talks, Sanaullah said that political temperatures could be brought through dialogue and it was regretted that PTI was not negotiating because of Imran Khan’s position.
Sanaullah added that if the former PM Khan sits with the politicians, political issues can be resolved.
