New York: As a result of US attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities during the latter war with Israel, Pakistan has warned the UN Security Council (UNSC) of the devastating consequences and emphasized the need for dialogue and diplomacy to move forward.
“We should now work to prevent the situation from getting out of control further [….] Dialogue and diplomacy have been the only viable path, “the UN’s Permanent Representative of Asim Iftikar’s Permanent Representative told the UNSC Huddle Amid the rapidly unstable situation in the region.
These remarks came during an important UNSC meeting when the United States attacked Iran’s Fordo, Nuts, and Asfahan nuclear places, which President Trump allegedly called Tehran a “outstanding achievement” in preventing nuclear weapons growth – the claim that Tehran was strongly denied.
Since the attack on its nuclear facilities, the Iranian parliament has supported the Strait Harmos – the move to stop the world’s major trading passage.
Iran has criticized the United States for sabotaging diplomatic efforts with its strikes, calling on the international community that “global principles and diplomacy are a direct threat”.
FM Aragchi said, “We were in the middle of talks. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said during a press conference during the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) summit in Istanbul on Sunday,” It was not Iran that left.
“They crossed a huge red line by attacking [Iran’s] Nuclear facilities, “FM added.
Addressing the UNSC, Ambassador Aftihar echoed the first statement issued by the Foreign Office, condemning the US bombings and supporting Iran’s right to defend itself and expressed regret over the attacks at nuclear places and “a threat to the protection and security of the population in the region and around the world.”
Condemning the attacks on IAEA -protected facilities, Elichi said that Islamabad has joined China and Russia in circulating the draft resolution demanding a “immediate and unconditional ceasefire”.
The resolution “also needs to refrain from further increase. The immediate protection of ordinary citizens and civilian infrastructure is demanded and the Iranian nuclear issue supports a diplomatic route that is acceptable to all parties.”
Repeating Pakistan’s support for Iran, the UN representative emphasized that the rapid increase in tensions and violence as a result of Israeli aggression and illegal acts was very disturbing and “there is a danger to further affecting the destructive consequences of the region and beyond.”
In addition, the diplomat called on UNSC to confirm his responsibility for the protection of civilian lives and property on both sides.
He “all parties should fully adhere to international law, especially international humanitarian law,” he called on the UN agency, saying that “the UN Charter’s goals and principles should promote immediate strength for dialogue and diplomacy” and sought to solve the Iranian nuclear issue.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif sought Iran’s support for Iran’s Pakistan, talking to Iranian President Masood Pajishkian over the phone and supporting the latter’s right to defend himself.
The Prime Minister condemned Pakistan’s US attacks, which took place in the past eight days after the indiscriminate and indiscriminate aggression.
