On Sunday, the United States launched airstrikes on several nuclear facilities in Iran, calling Donald Trump the president of an operation a “amazing military success”.
The targeted sites included Fordo, Nutson and Isfahan, which were targeted by US Air Force B -2 Spirits Stealth Bombers.
B-2 is one of the latest US strategic weapons platform, which is capable of entering a sophisticated air defense against tight targets such as Iran’s buried network of nuclear research facilities and providing precision strikes.
B-2 Spirits Steelth bomber
Each of the US B-2 costs about $ 2.1 billion, making it the most expensive military aircraft ever. The Northup Gromeman, with his latest stealth technology, began its preparation in the late 1980s, but was stopped by the fall of the Soviet Union. Only 21 were made after the Pentagon’s planned acquisition program was cut.
The bomber range enables a global strike capabilities with continental US bases without fuel without fuel more than 6,000 miles (11,112 km). With aerial fuel, B-2 can reach any target around the world, as shown in missions from Missouri to Afghanistan and Libya and now Iran.
Its pack capacity is more than 40,000 pounds (18,144kg), which allows the aircraft to carry diverse rows of traditional and nuclear weapons. The bomber’s interior arms balls are specifically designed to maintain stealth properties, while large ordinance loads are adjusted, which can contain two GBU-57A/B MOP (massive ordinance interior)-30,000 pounds of precision guidance “bunker buster”.
According to reports, six bunker bombs were used on Iran’s Fordo Research site.
The formation of two B -2 pilot staff reduces the needs of the personnel by maintaining operational effectiveness through a high automation system.
B-2’s stealth technology includes radar absorbing materials and tear design features that reduce detection through enemy air defense systems. Its radar cross section is allegedly compared to a small bird, which is hidden near the traditional radar.
GBU-57/B-Massive Ordinance Interior (MOP)
The 30,000 -pound mop represents the largest traditional bomb in US weapons, especially an engineer to defeat the tough underground bunkers. For its large size, only one or two MPs require B-2 to carry a mission, but it provides unprecedented bunker-sector potential.
The weapon’s 20.5 feet (6.25-M) enables accurate strikes against specific underground facilities and GPS-guided precision system. Its penetration capacity of more than 200 feet through rigorous concrete makes it effective against the world’s safest underground installations.
Traditional pay loads
The joint direct attacks provide weapons (JDAM) B -2 to a traditional precision strike against fixed targets. These GPS-guided weapons can be deployed in large numbers, which is capable of adding more targets simultaneously.
The joint stand of weapons (JSOW) extends the aircraft’s engagement range while maintaining the characteristics of the sticky. These glide bombs allow B-2 to attack the targets outside the heavy defense airspace.
Combined air -level stand -off missiles (JASSM) offer long -range precision strike capacity. The extension range provides strike options against more than 500 miles (805 km) targets.
Nuclear capability
The B -2 Spirit serves as the key component of the United States nuclear tride, which is capable of supplying stealth and precision strategic nuclear weapons. The aircraft can carry 16 B83 nuclear bombs.
