Strasbourg: A high -level parliamentary delegation from Pakistan concludes a series of strategic engagements with key members and committees of the European Parliament.
The delegation was led by the Federal Minister for Climate, Mossadak Malik, and the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, MNA Hina Rabbani Khar, Khurram Datagir Khan, Senator Faisal Sabzwari, and Ambassador of the former Foreign Secretary Apbas Jilani and Ambas Jilani.
The delegation, focusing on regional peace and security, climate flexibility, legal cooperation, and inter -parliamentary dialogue, widely consulted with senior officials and lawmakers of the European Parliament. He met the Vice President of the European Parliament, Cristel Skaldimos, and told him about the aggressive posting and unilateral measures of India, especially about the deteriorating regional security environment in South Asia. The debates also covered the importance of Pakistan’s democratic credentials, climate justice, and strong parliamentary cooperation to promote mutual understanding. In a comprehensive meeting with MEP Michael Galer, the delegation expressed concern over unilateral, international principles violations, and the growing tilt of India towards surrendering the Indus Waters Treaty. The delegation confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to international law and peaceful diplomacy. The delegation also held important talks with the delegation members for relations with Chair Serb Dmitry Stores and South Asia (DSA). Federal Minister Mossadak Malik told them to use regional tensions and water as a strategic tool. The two sides recognized the importance of multilateral engagement and sought better cooperation in trade, climate and human development. In a clear exchange with the MEPs of the ESN group led by Maryam Khan, the delegation pose a threat to the global principles created by India’s unilateral military operations and the suspension of the Indus Waters Agreement. The delegation identified Pakistan’s prevention and maturity in response to the provocation.
In a meeting with Ms Marta Tamido, the first deputy chair of the Human Rights Sub -Committee (DROI), the delegation discussed Pakistan’s legal reforms, constitutional reservations for minorities, and progress under the GSP+ framework. The delegation also emphasized the importance of a permanent and non -electoral point of view for human rights, which focused on the ongoing and organized violations in Jammu and Kashmir illegally occupied by Indian. With the Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) chair David McAllstair, the delegation considered India’s revised behavior, including a decision to suspend the Indus Waters Agreement, and emphasized the urgent need for dispute prevention procedures. He encouraged the European Union to play an active role in protecting peace and multilateral principles. He also met with Alhan Kuchuk of the Legal Affairs Committee (GRI), where the GSP+ government focused on Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen judicial freedom and rule of law. He raised serious concerns about India’s unilateral actions and violations of bilateral agreements, emphasizing the importance of rules -based international engagements. These engagements reflected Pakistan’s commitment to a constructive partnership with the European Union to tackle global and regional challenges and confirmed the country’s principle commitment to peace, democratic governance and international cooperation.
