The G7 leaders gathered in Canada on Monday, hoping that Ukraine and the Middle East would take a unanimous stance on wars.
However, before formal talks began, US President Donald Trump rejected the tension, announcing that removing Russia from the former G8 was a mistake.
Standing with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump said the blocking of Russia in 2014 was wrong in 2014.
His comments indicate an early discrimination between the leaders of the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States – when the translatable alliance with the European Union is already under pressure.
“It was a big mistake,” he said, adding that he believed that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine in 2022 if Putin was not expelled.
Trump said, “Putin talks to me. He doesn’t talk to anyone else … He is not a happy person about it. I can tell you that he does not basically talk to the people who threw it out, and I agree with it.”
His comments raised doubts about how much he could get Ukrainian President Wolodmeer Zillsky when he met with leaders on Tuesday. European countries say they want to persuade Trump to support strict sanctions on Moscow.
Zillski said he plans to discuss new weapons purchases with Trump for Ukraine.
Trump spoke to Putin on Saturday and suggested that Russian leaders could play a role in mediation between Israel and Iran.
French President Emmanuel Macron rejected the idea, saying that Moscow could not be a negotiator because it had launched an illegal war against Ukraine.
A European diplomat said that Trump’s proposal shows that Russia is very high in our minds.
European officials say they hope Zilnsky and NATO secretary -general Mark Rod and next week’s NATO summit will use Tuesday with a Tuesday with next week’s NATO summit to tighten their position.
Macron said, “The purpose of the G7 should come together for us once again, a ceasefire for Ukraine to lead to a strong and lasting peace, and I think it is a question of whether President Trump is ready to impose more strict sanctions on Russia.”
With the growing Israeli -Iran conflict, the Summit is seen as an important moment in Canada to try to restore the unity of the democratic power houses.
In another initial symbol, the group can struggle to reach the agreement on key issues, an American official said, adding that Trump would not sign a draft statement to end the Iran -Iran conflict.
However, a Canadian official said the dispute would come out in bilateral meetings throughout the day, and it was too early to speculate on the results of the conversation. A senior European diplomat echoed the comments, saying that Trump had not yet decided.
Draft Documents
Canada has abandoned an attempt to adopt a comprehensive dialogue to stop the repetition of the 2018 summit in Quebec, when Trump instructed the US delegation to withdraw the last conversation after leaving.
Leaders developed a number of draft documents shown by Reuters, including migration, artificial intelligence, and major supply chain of minerals. According to a briefing source about the documents, none of them have been approved by the United States.
A European diplomat said that Europeans are mostly on the same page on issues. But without Trump, it is unclear whether there will be a declaration.
The first five months of Trump’s second term, promoted foreign policy on Ukraine, caused anxiety over its close ties with Russia, and consequently, US allies faced revenue.
The talks on Monday will advance around the economy, trade deals and China.
Two diplomatic sources said that efforts to reach the deal to reduce the G7 Price Cap on Russian oil, even if Trump decides to opt out, Israel complicated with a temporary rise in oil prices after the strike on June 12, after the strikes began on Iran. On Monday, oil prices fell on the news that Iran wanted to achieve war.
The agenda is high between the two regional enemies, with diplomatic sources saying that they hope they will request a return to patience and diplomacy and encourage Trump to sign a declaration.
The British Prime Minister Kerr Starrr told reporters, “I think there is a consensus for de -cutting. Obviously, we need to do what we need to do today and be clear about how it will be brought.”
