ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday called for united national efforts to achieve the immense potential of Pakistan’s blue economy, which called it the country’s “new economic front” with opportunities for sustainable development and development.
Addressing the soft launch of the second Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PMC 2025), the Prime Minister presented the vision to convert Pakistan into a regional maritime powerhouse.
The Prime Minister said, “It is a pleasure to see the Pakistan Navy under the patronage of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and in collaboration with the key partners, and organizing the second edition of the Pemik, together with the key partners,”.
He praised the leadership of Navy Chief Admiral Affairs Ashraf and Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Mohammad Junaid Anwar Chowdhury for his strategic period and dedication to pursue this important move.
Highlighting the Navy’s important role in national defense and regional security, he said, “The Pakistan Navy has been a powerful force through all conflicts and is a strong pillar of our national security.”
Confirming Pakistan’s international peace and its commitment to maritime law, he cited the practice of order, in which the participation of more than 50 countries was described as a symbol of Pakistan’s global engagement and cooperative maritime currency.
The Prime Minister said that with a position at the crossroads of more than a thousand kilometers and important maritime lanes, Pakistan said that the trillion dollars is in place to use the global blue economy.
He stressed, “Even tapping a portion of this economy can be a real game changer.”
He added, “Our coastal trade already brings about $ 7 billion in a year and if we fully develop the sector, imagine its potential.”
He called on the nation to be influenced by the stories of global success like Japan, which rose from limited maritime resources to become a global leader in maritime infrastructure and regional trade. He added, “Let it open there,” he added, emphasizing the importance of further flexibility, innovation and strategic investment.
Prime Minister Shahbaz called for harmony in the public and private sectors and emphasized the need to convert Pakistan’s maritime sector into a comprehensive, sustainable economic growth. “The time has come for them to get the lead,” he said.
Marine Affairs Minister Mohammad Junaid presented the government’s strategic road map for the maritime sector. He confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to build a dynamic blue economy and introduced the “Maritime Eight 100” vision, a long -term plan to develop the sector in the economic power of 100 billion by 2047, which marked the centennial of Pakistan.
“The PMC 2025 will be more than an exhibition,” the minister told a gathering of policy makers, maritime professionals and international stakeholders. It would be a catalyst for investment, innovation and regional cooperation. “
The minister, emphasizing the sector’s immense capabilities, highlights key economic drivers, such as 88 billion fishermen industry, Gadani ship recycling yard, exceeds 30 billion and highlights a strategic location linked to global trade routes.

To guide the future of the sector, the Minister announced that the three major policy framework will ensure national maritime policy, national shipping policy, and national fishing and acquaintance policy, which are nearing completion and will ensure stability and innovation development.
He also announced the establishment of a Sea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which for transparency and efficiency, a central maritime complaint cell, a federal investment of Rs 12 billion in the recycling yard, the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation for the acquisition of four new ships for the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation.
