Uzbekistan’s envoy Tothev said that the launch of a direct flight of Uzbekistan Airways will greatly strengthen the economic and trade relations between the two countries and reduce the distance between the people of the two countries.
He also added that it directly indicates a strategic development in bilateral relations and is in accordance with the wider targets of Central and South Asian communication measures.
This weekly flight between the two capitals, which begins today, is an important step ahead of strengthening air connectivity between the two brotherly countries, AFTB said.
He praised the move as an important milestone in furthering regional cooperation. Direct flight meets various regional forums, such as the ECO and SCO, to improve the connection between Central Asia and South Asia, he said.
“This new route will not only deepen bilateral relations in many fields but will also play an important role in promoting regional tourism, promoting people’s contact with the people, facilitating business travel, educational exchange and cultural cooperation,” he said.
Highlighting the tourism capacity, Rana emphasized that direct airlines will increase the flow of bilateral tourists.
“For Pakistani passengers, Uzbekistan’s legendary Silk Road cities – Samarkand, Bukhara and Khewua – are now more accessible than ever. Similarly, Uzbek tourists can now find the royal northern mountains of Pakistan, spiritual heritage, and more ease of dynamic cultural marks.”
He added that in recent years, tourism exchange between Pakistan and Uzbekistan has been permanently increasing, which has been driven by shared historical roots, cultural affiliation and religious heritage.
He concluded that the new air service offers an easy, cost -effective and reliable journey option for tourists, students and pilgrims crossing cross -border experiences.
Earlier this year, Uzbekistan announced plans to launch a new direct flight route to Karachi to promote close relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador said that Uzbekistan implemented a soft visa government for Pakistani nationals in September 2023, which helped business and tourist travel.
The move indicates Uzbekistan’s commitment to promote public relations and promote mutual understanding, with recent direct flights between Tashkant and Lahore.
Highlighting trade capabilities, the ambassador noted that bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Pakistan has increased threefold in the last five years, which has increased from $ 122 million in 2019 to $ 387 million in 2023.
He emphasized on unused opportunities of further cooperation, especially in areas such as textile, pharmaceutical, leather and tanne, food processing, and agricultural business.
The Ambassador also praised the success of the “Med in Pakistan” Single Country Exhibition held in Tashkent in June last year, which provided businessmen from the two countries for a precious platform to formulate new trade and investment contracts.
Moving forward this pace, he announced plans for the “Med in Uzbekistan” industrial exhibition in Karachi this year, and expressed confidence that it would further strengthen economic relations.
