Pakistan told the Security Council during an emergency meeting on Friday that Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities were a “serious threat and a serious threat to the entire region and beyond peace, security and stability.”
The 15 -member council cleared its original schedule to deal with the rapidly prepared crisis. It also heard from the UN nuclear care chief, who warned of the serious threats of regional stability and nuclear security.
In his remarks to the emergency UN meeting, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, a permanent representative to the United Nations of Pakistan, has strongly condemned Israel as an “unlawful and illegal” aggression by Israel.
He confirmed that Islamabad stands in solidarity with the Iranian government and its people.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Aragchi, requested the Security Council meeting, stating that Israel “has now crossed every Red Line, and the international community should not allow these crimes without punishment.”
Pakistan supported the request for an emergency meeting with China and Russia.
Amidst the growing tension, the Pakistani envoy called on the council to maintain international law and immediately stop aggression.
Ambassador ASIM strongly supported resolving the crisis through dialogue and diplomacy.
Giving a briefing to the Security Council, UN Under Secretary General for Political Affairs, Rosari Dikarlo told ambassadors that the results of the attacks were already being felt.
“I confirm the Secretary General of any military increase in the Middle East,” he said, “he called on both Israel and Iran to use more and use the maximum restriction and” avoid a descent in a deep and wider regional conflict at all costs. “
He said the increase has come to the fore when “some important diplomatic progress” continues, which includes the resumption of US -Iranian talks in Oman in the weekend. However, the latest reports show that Iran will no longer participate.
De Carlo urged all parties to be obliged to diplomacy.
“The peaceful solution through dialogue is the best way to ensure the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program,” he said. “We, at all costs, should avoid growing configuration, which can have many global results.”
Addressing the council, Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said his agency was in a permanent contact with the Iranian nuclear regulatory authority to evaluate the status of affected facilities and to determine the widespread impact on nuclear security and security.
He emphasized that nuclear places should never be targeted – in any case.
“Such attacks have serious implications for nuclear security, nuclear security and security, as well as regional and international peace and security,” Grosy said.
He added that he is ready to travel to the region at an early occasion to assess the situation related to security, security and non -proliferation in Iran and to support efforts.
“It is clear that the only sustainable path to Iran, Israel, the entire region and the international community is based on dialogue and diplomacy to ensure peace, stability and cooperation.”
Grosy ended by presenting IAEA as a neutral platform, where “facts prevail over rhetoric” and where technical engagement increases.
“I confirm my personal commitment and the agency to facilitate dialogue and support that promotes transparency, security, and peaceful solutions to nuclear issues in Iran,” he said.
