PESHAWAR: Rejecting a bill to control the marriage of children, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (Jof), said that the country was facilitating for the promotion of adultery, while the process of Nika was making it difficult for the so-called legislation.
Addressing a news conference here, he said, “There is no age restriction for marriage in Islam. Only ban is the pursuit of puberty, which can be 10, 12 or 14 years old.”
He claimed that deliberate efforts were being made to end the country’s Islamic identity. He said the previous legislation was attributed to the pressure of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
He alleged that the recent legislation was also based on parts of the UN Charter to ban the marriage of people under 18. He added, “This means that the country is still not free and lives in the clutches of the new colonial system.”
Maulana said that the so -called legislation is against the spirit of the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah and it has clearly violated the basic principles of the Constitution, which clearly states that no law will be enforced which was notorious with the Holy Quran and Sunnah. He added that due to poor policies of the rulers, the country is losing not only its Islamic identity but also its democratic role. He argued, reinforcing the story of militant organizations, who believes that Parliament has failed to deliver.
“It is surprising that anti -Islamic legislation is being adopted in an Islamic Republic,” he said. He reminded that a similar attempt was made to promote adultery in the name of women’s rights during the Musharraf regime.
He claimed that the current law would also make the process of goodwill, which would eventually lead to adultery.
Maulana said that religious scholars from the Council of Islamic Ideology and all schools of thought have rejected the legislation against Islamic teachings, the Quran and Sunnah.
He announced that Goff had rejected the law and would launch a massive protest campaign against it across the country. He announced that the first major political gathering in this regard will take place in Hazara Division on June 29.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman also criticized the increasing number of mega -corruption scandals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the PTI government for a long time. He said that corruption in the province could not be eliminated unless Jof came to power.
He alleged that the establishment had launched a smear campaign against Jof, but no FIR was registered against any party leader. “If the allegations were a reality, we would have been in jail,” he said.
He added that he had never claimed 100 % control over corruption during the Muthaida Majlis Amal (MMA) government, but corrupt methods were certainly stopped and condemned in all forums.
He alleged, “Now, under the current PTI setup, widespread corruption is opening up.”
Referring to the recent revelations, he said that the speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, who belongs to the ruling party, has revealed that the fugitive funds are not more than just 40 billion rupees.
He called for a judicial inquiry into corruption scams. “The government claims that out of 40 billion rupees, Rs 20 billion has been recovered,” he said.
He made fun of the Pakistan Peoples Party protests against corruption, saying that it seems that they are protesting because their “record” has been broken.
Talking about regional progress, Maulana said that after the recent military conflict between India and Pakistan, regional dynamics have changed. He said that China is emerging as a regional power and the “crazy decisions” of Indian rulers can be submerged in chaos.
He said that he had long suggested strengthening relations within Asia instead of relying on Europe, but Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘foolishness’ had pushed the region towards war. He called on the Indian people to think about the policies of the Modi administration.
He also emphasized the need for better relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which he described as a very important need of the time. He welcomed the Afghan government’s decision to refrain from avoiding attacks in Pakistan from militant groups.
