US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Vladimir Putin was “playing with fire”, refusing to refuse to ceasefire with Kiev, as Russian forces benefit from Ukraine in the northeast.
With his disappointment, Trump has attacked the Russian president as Moscow has targeted Ukraine with some of the deadliest drone and missile attacks in the three -year war, while the ceasefire efforts are not moving.
“What Vladimir Putin does not realize is that if it were not for me, many bad things would have happened in Russia, and I mean really bad,” Trump said on a truthful social position on Tuesday.
The President, who is proud of having friendly relations with Putin, did not explain the details. Russian security official Dmitry Medvedev rejected Trump’s criticism.
“Putin’s words about Trump’s words ‘fire’ and ‘really bad things’ are happening to Russia. I just know about something bad – wwii. I hope Trump understands it!” Medvedev wrote on social media platform X in English.
Trump said in a post on Sunday that Putin had “gone crazy” by issuing a massive air strike on Ukraine.
Putin said last week after a two -hour call with Trump that Russia is ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum on a future peace deal.
The Russian leader said a part of the work would explain a potential ceasefire, including its timeframe. Ukraine, its European allies and the United States have urged Putin to accept immediate, unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days.
The Kremlin has said that he cannot guess how long the memorandum will take, and he said on Tuesday that he was still working on it. Kiev and European governments have accused Moscow of stalling, while it develops on the battlefield.
Four Sumi villages occupied
Trump’s social media explosion took place on Tuesday when Kiev suffered another battlefield, in which Russian forces seized four villages in the northeastern Sami region of Ukraine.
Trump has so far resisted new sanctions against Russia, though US officials say a package of sanctions has been prepared if they decide to do so. Trump is also under pressure from Ukrainian President Wolodmeer Zelannsky to increase military aid to Ukraine.
Russia’s advance follows Russia’s largest drone and missile attacks in early 2022, since Russia launched a full -scale war in early 2022, though the level has reduced significantly over Monday to Tuesday.
Ukraine has also fired dozens of long -range drones in Russia in recent days, forcing Moscow airports to temporarily shut down.
Somi Governor Oliya Haryaurov writes on Facebook that Russia was occupied by the villages of Novinke, Basuka, Veselaka and Zuroka, though residents had long been evacuated.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Monday that it had taken a nearby village Blaudi, which means further progress in the war for more than three years.
Ukrainian officials have said for weeks that Russian troops have been trying to move to the Sami region, with less than 30 km (19 miles) from the main city border.
Russian forces are expanding the area with the help of invaders and drones in small groups on motorcycles, where they are attacking, the Ukrainian border guard service spokesman said.
Ukrainian forces last year used a launch pad to occupy a part of Russia’s neighboring country, before they were operated on a large scale by April. The area has been fired for several months through Russian guidance bombings and other strikes.
Harihurov wrote on Facebook, “Enemy so -called ‘buffer zone’ is continuing to move forward.
While traveling to the region in March, Putin called on his army to consider the establishment of a “buffer zone” along the Russian border.
New aggression
Although Russia’s aggressive activity is focused in the Eastern Donetsk region, the route to Moscow’s northeastern Ukraine suggests how it is pulling Kiev’s forces on several fronts.
Zillski has repeatedly warned that Russia is developing a new aggression against Somi as well as northeastern Kharwak and southeast Zaporezia regions.
He said on Monday, without any explanation, he said on Monday, “There is a lot of evidence that he is preparing new offensive operations. Russia is trusting in more war.”
