E most often heard comments such as youth workers, Youth Advocate, Youth Champion, Youth Leader and Youth Volunteers. However, the term “Youth Worker” is not so widely recognized or valuable. Many people consider it less dignity, raise an important question: What is the job of young people and what do young workers do? The important thing is, how is the youth work in Pakistan ready?
Youth work is a field dedicated to helping young people in personal, social and educational development. It often involves informal education, guidance and involvement of the community, helping young people to develop, gain knowledge and trust and flexibility.
One of the specific aspects of youth workers is that they do not need to be young. They can help and serve young people at any stage of their lives.
Young workers work in various settings, such as schools, community centers, NGOs and social services. His work is spread on leadership development, urban engagement, mental health and career guidance. The purpose is to help young people reach their full potential, actively participate in society and live the whole life.
This creates another question to us: What is the Youth Edge bracket? The definitions vary. The United Nations has described youth as 15 to 24 years of age.
The Youngman Christian Association, founded in 1844, is considered to be the oldest and largest youth movement. In Lahore, the YMCA can still come to the board and the hostel.
Young and student
It is very important to distinguish between youth organizations and student organizations. Although most students are part of youth settlers, the debate focuses on young organizations that work outside educational institutions.
Youth organizations can be classified:
Youth -led organizations
Youth -based organizations headed by old people
Organizations that include youth -related work as part of their mandate
In Pakistan, Leader-FPAP (Family Planning Association of Pakistan) has been engaged in youth measures since the 1970s. Between 1970 and 1979, it adopted an integrated development outlook with the participation of society, which focused on contraceptive, population education and development programs, including young people. Today, it runs 200 youth centers in Pakistan.
Global context
Internationally, youth issues have formally recognized during the International Conference on Population and Development in 1995, especially about the sexual and reproductive health and rights of youth (SRHR). This started to become an important agenda item for youth in the development sector.
During this period, the UNFPA launched a global Wi -Pir program. He came to Pakistan in 2009 under the leadership of Sadia Atta. Subsequently, several other measures have formed the leadership of youth in Pakistan. The Youth Advocacy Network, which was founded by prisoner Baig, and various Youth Parliament, such as the British Council (under Uber Haq), and under the move of Razwan Jafar, Poldet (under Ahmad Bilal Mehboob), and Rajan Jafar’s move to engage in youth.
Until recently, most of the youth initiatives in Pakistan focused on population issues or SRHRs. However, the British Council has introduced a new dimension for the development of youth through its active citizens’ program.
Until recently, most of the youth initiatives in Pakistan focused on population issues or SRHRs. However, the British Council has introduced a new dimension for the development of youth through its active citizens’ program. The launch of the next generation report in 2006 opened the doors of several youth programs.
Bargod has been working on the political participation and rights of youth since 1997, who started efforts in this place. It demands that a study that revised the politics of students in Pakistan has taken the path to integrate the politics of the students with the framework of the development field.
Nurturing young leaders
These measures have played an important role in forming a generation of youth leaders. Shahzad Khan, Sana Sohail, Qaiser Runjha, Fashahat, Najam-Sahar, Faisal Shabbir, Usman Rasheed, Sarmad Raza, Rabia Dar, Salma Butt, Gulalai Ismail, Sika Rani, Noor Amran, Fahd Shahbaz, Amran, Fahd Shahbaz Shahdarit emerged from these movements. In 2001, Ali Salman launched an important website young Pakistan to educate and mobilize youth online. Later, he authored a book on Pakistan’s youth policies, published by Bargad. When he transmitted the Youth Age bracket in the past, he shifted his attention to economic problems and now serves as an executive director of a leading think tank.
In 2010, Sana Sohail and Shahzad Khan founded the Chennan Development Association, which is a youth -led move that has since trained thousands of youths in Pakistan about sexual and reproductive health while advocating for the meaningful participation of the youth. They continue these efforts under the CDA umbrella.
Youth Workers’ contributions
Some youth leaders have actively increased their impact. From the late 1990s, a dedicated leader of youth, Gulmina Bilal, established a network and later founded the Bilal Corps Trust in Peshawar. Recognized as one of the most skilled trainers of youth in Pakistan’s development sector, he later led the Liberal Forum Pakistan and founded a media consulting firm individual land. Today, he is the Chairperson of Navttc.
Fahad Shahbaz has led the Youth General Assembly and is now a focal person for PMYP in Punjab.
It is impossible to talk about the work of youth in Pakistan and not to mention Zafarullah Khan, who played a key role in bringing the youth to international NGOs (INGOs). I still remember meeting them as a youth worker when he encouraged me with these words, “Good dreams.”
Youth workers and young workers
It is important to distinguish between youth workers and youth workers. According to the admiration of the age of the youth, the young worker or the lawyer can only maintain the title until the age of 29. However, the work of the youth is a profession that does not have an age limit. The Commonwealth Research on Youth Workers has highlighted their role in governance and long -term engagement in the development of youth.
A few years ago, I considered the youth to quit development, feeling that I was no longer “youth” and I should move to another field. However, Lane Robinson, a patron of the Commonwealth Secretariat, advised me otherwise. He reminded me that my experience and skills were rooted in the work of the youth, and it would be a loss to start in a different field. His words newly shaped my point of view. Today, I proudly identify as a youth worker, help young people and contribute to empowering them.
