On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar confirmed that the nuclear -armed Pakistan and India agreed to increase the US broker by May 18.
Addressing the Senate, Dar, who also holds foreign affairs portfolio, said that the development took place on May 14 during a hotline link between the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the two sides.
After breaking the ceasefire between countries equipped with nuclear weapons, Pakistan Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Major General Kashif Abdullah and his Indian counterpart Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai were the first to negotiate through the hotline on May 10.
The DPM told the Upper House, “During the DGMOS talks, the ceasefire was extended till May 12. When the DGMOs spoke again on May 12, the ceasefire was extended till May 14. Further talks on May 14 have resulted in the ceasefire by May 18.”
To clear the recent US broker between Pakistan and India, the Pakistan Secretary of State Marco Rubio told him that New Delhi was ready for a ceasefire.
Addressing the Senate, Dar, who also holds foreign affairs portfolio, said: “On May 10 at 10:15 am, I received a call from the US Secretary of State, who told me that India was ready to agree with the ceasefire.”
The DPM said, “Our Phase -1 operation was nearing completion at the time,” he added that he told the top US diplomat that if New Delhi was ready for a ceasefire, Pakistan was ready to do so.
During the telephonic conversation, the minister said that he made it clear that the war was not started by Islamabad. Dar further told the House that the top US diplomat told him that he would inform Indian Foreign Minister SS Jaishkar about the development.
The latest increase in the enmity of Pakistan decades -old India began on May 7 when at least 31 citizens were martyred in indiscriminate Indian strikes in different areas of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). In retaliation, Pakistan dropped its five fighter jets, including three Rafael, and dozens of drones. During the four -day stand -off, at least 11 troops and 40 civilians were martyred by India.
The ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced after launching a retaliation under Operation Bonean-Marsus’ in response to Pakistan’s unmanned missiles and drone strikes at Pakistani nationals and military places.

He emphasized that Pakistan never requested a ceasefire.
The minister said that Pakistan wants peace in the region, but it will not accept any hajma design or violation of its sovereignty.
Dar added that the armed forces have successfully fought India’s hedimonic designs in the region. He said that it was a great achievement for Pakistan that the international community did not buy India’s statement. The Foreign Minister added that with the blessings of Almighty Allah, Pakistan has removed the myths of any “new routine”.
The DPM emphasized that the Indus Waters Agreement is a matter of non -negotiation for Pakistan, adding that India cannot unilaterally suspend the agreement.
“The matter will now move towards negotiations,” he said, adding that dialogue with India will be “comprehensive”.
He added that all issues will be discussed at the table.
