ISLAMABAD: Major General (Retd) of the Chairman Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), Hafiz Ar, told the Cabinet Secretariat that the auction of 5G services was scheduled in April but some of the challenges were identified until this time, it was not resolved.
After a comprehensive conversation, the committee was briefed that a fundamental problem was a long -standing legalism which is pending and until the matter was resolved properly 5G auction.
The Senate Committee meeting was chaired by Senator Rana Mahmood -ul -Hassan at the Parliament House, in which Chairman PTA and his team gave a briefing on the 5G Services Rollout Plan across the country.
The committee was told that an American consulting firm was hired on November 20, 2024 to facilitate the 5G services auction process. The committee considered the government’s bill: “Pakistan Telecommunications (re -organization) (amendment) bill, 2025”, which was introduced by Senator Azam Nazir Taraar on behalf of the Cabinet Minister in charge of the Cabinet Minister in charge during the Senate on January 24, 2025.
After a comprehensive discussion on the bill, the chairman of the committee recommended that representatives of the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs be invited to the next meeting for further consideration.
Separately, the Deputy Administrator of the abandonment Properties Organization (APO) informed the Administrator APO’s organizational structure and actions. During the debate, the members of the committee earlier inquired about paying the discussion.
In response, the deputy administrator said that the APO has already deposited Rs 48.232 billion, while the remaining 1.186 billion is expected to be deposited in the next financial year.
The Deputy Administrator said that the APO was an autonomous body that was established on February 12, 1975 under the abandoned Properties Act, 1975 (1975 Act X -X), in which the ex -citizens of Pakistan were released from property (dynamic and unmanageable) after December 16, 1971).

The chairman of the committee has sought full details of the property owned by the APO and auction, and the location of the property has been identified which is currently under control at the next meeting.

The meeting was attended by Senators Saleem Mandovala, Saifullah Sarwar Khan Nizi, Saadia Abbasi, Anusha Rehman Ahmed Khan, Atta -ul -Haman, Amir Parents Chishti and senior management from the ministry and the concerned departments.
