WASHINGTON: The United States says it will turn away from peace talks between Russia and Ukraine if the two sides do not offer clear plans to end the war. “It’s time for serious suggestions,” a US State Department spokesman said.
Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio said the time is coming and if there is no progress, the United States can soon focus on other priorities.
The US president pledged to end the war in his first 24 hours in the White House, but when Trump celebrates 100 days of office, Rubio has suggested that the administration may soon draw its attention to other issues.
“We are now at a time where both sides need to provide concrete suggestions about ending the dispute,” State Department spokesman Temmy Bruce told reporters.
“If progress has not been made, we will back down as a mediator in the process.”
He said it would eventually depend on Trump whether he would move forward on diplomacy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently proposed a three -day ceasefire around Moscow’s memories next week on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
But Putin has condemned the Ukrainian -backed American call for a 30 -day ceasefire.
Bruce said the United States does not want a three-day moment so that you can celebrate something else-a complete, sustainable ceasefire and the end of conflict. “
Means of stress
It is not yet clear whether Rubio is actually ready to turn this page or is trying to put pressure on both countries.
The United States has already proposed a framework that Ukrainian residents felt about Russian demands.
Trump has proposed to officially acknowledge Russia’s occupation of Crimea in 2014, which has been rejected by almost all the world in addition to land conversion.
Ukrainian President Wolodmeer Zelannsky told a program in Poland via video conference on Tuesday, “We all want the war to end in a fair way.
Russia, too, has not moved on the proposal, many experts believe that Moscow is now looking at an upper hand – in the battlefield and diplomatically, want to reconcile with Trump.
Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vasley Nabinzia, tried to blame Zilnski, saying that Russia would continue to talk to the United States.
“Zelaninski is on the verge of promoting the conflict,” Nabinzia told the UN Security Council meeting.
US diplomat John Kelly told the session that both sides would benefit from working with the US framework and would condemn Russian attacks in Ukraine.
Kelly said, “Right now, Russia is a great opportunity to achieve sustainable peace.
Trump, while turning away from Putin on the February 2022 attack, criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, arrived by the Russian leader via telephone and sent his business friend to visit him to see Glob Trating ambassador to Steve Wakt.
Trump cheated Zilnski at a White House meeting on February 28, with Trump and Vice President JD Venus accusing the war -torn leader for US weapons under Biden.
Ukraine tried to amend the US diplomatic efforts and immediately amend the agreement, in which the United States would control most of the country’s minerals.
‘Deadly mismanagement’ conversation
US Senator Jean Shaheen, a senior Democrat for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said on Tuesday that “illegal affiliation with Russia’s Crimea will invite additional aggression from Moscow and Beijing.”
“I have tried to give President Trump a place to negotiate for a fair and lasting peace in Ukraine, which has a goal that we both share,” he said.
“However, President Trump and his team have misbehaved with the talks,” he said.
Ukraine on Tuesday ordered the evacuation of seven villages in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region, which was far from the front lines, but is now in danger after the Russian forces are close.
A ballistic missile entered the Kiev residential area in a deadliest attack on the capital after the attack last week.
On social media after the attack, “Vladimir, Rakne” wrote, Trump, who claimed that Putin had not invaded Ukraine if he was in power in 2022.
