ISLAMABAD: Legendary Dutch Hockey icon Florus John Bowllander has issued a clear call to Pakistani hockey officials, emphasizing the urgent need for the restoration of the training system to focus on physical fitness, strength, and the development of young players.
Currently, on a special invitation of Islamabad’s visit to Khuja Junaid, who is the ambassador of the Prime Minister’s Youth Development Program, the Bowllander, whose unforgettable fines, had snatched the 1990 World Cup in a dramatic final in Lahore – talked about the evolution of the game.
Responding to a question of ‘The News’ about the difference between hockey played during the clashes of the Classic Pakistan Holland World Cup of 1990 and 1994, and today’s game game, Bowllander emphasized an important fact: “Lightweight is not just that the hikes have an unusual body, and the international need for an international body.

Bowllander also thanked Khwaja Junaid for facilitating his visit, which allows him to connect with the country’s emerging hockey capabilities. He emphasized, “Pakistan is a land that is suffering from raw hockey’s ability. However, it is important to identify and raise this ability from an early age. Early development and structural coaching can turn young people into global players.”
Although Bowllander never formally chased the coaching career, he recognized the role of coaches in the formation of successful teams. “A good coach can create a world of difference,” he said.
The program was also obtained by the Dutch Ambassador to Pakistan, Henny Focal de Veries, and Secretary International Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mohduddin Wani. Ambassador De Warez praised the sports as an important bridge between the nations of sports, saying: “Pakistan’s deep love for hockey is impressive. Actions like these exchanges between Dutch hockey legends and Pakistani youth are essential to strengthen relations and mutual growth.”
He expressed the hope that with such cooperation, he would continue to flourish, which would benefit players and sports communities in both countries. Wani, who has been newly appointed to the post, has outlined his vision to bring education and sports ministries together.

Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Yasir Pirzada also made a special visit to the Nasser Banda Hockey Stadium to meet Boylendra, highlighting the importance of this high -level interaction.
