ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI) leaders said Thursday that former party chairman and former boyfriend Imran Khan is suffering the difficulties of imprisonment for people, country and constitution.
Addressing a joint news conference outside the Supreme Court here, he announced that a letter would be written to Justice Yahya Afridi, Chief Justice of Justice Yahya Afridi, to inform him of the alleged false cases registered against the PTI leadership and workers.
The news conference was addressed by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, Latif Khosa, Babar House, Niazullah Niazi and Ali Bukhari.
On this occasion, Babar Owen demanded that all matters against Imran Khan must be quit and all the arrested political workers should be released. He further demanded that the ongoing cases against other political leaders should end first, especially the pending Model Town case.
Babar Owen said that unless there is new elections, no peace will return to Pakistan. He claimed that the elected judicial measures have damaged the judicial system and have caused two major losses on the country at present: a reduction in public confidence and lack of leadership to handle international relations.
He said, “The country has become a republic of banana,” he said, adding that the offices of the biggest political party are closed, social media is banned, and prisoners have been denied the rights of the visit.
Owen said, “There has never been such a violation of personal privacy and dignity in the history of Pakistan, adding that Umar Khan faces most of the issues, followed by Omar Ayub.
Speaking on the occasion, Salman Akram Raja said that Imran Khan has wished that the people should be informed about “lawlessness”, while “the rulers want silence like a cemetery”.
He said that the PTI founder has been imprisoned for 22 months and the cases are being prosecuted behind closed doors, which is a deviation from the law. He called for a fair and open trial so that the public could observe the process.
He added that efforts are being made to keep Imran Khan away from the people. “All Khan’s facilities have been withdrawn, meetings are forbidden, and even his sons are not allowed to talk to him.”
He claimed that a gulf was created between the state and the people. He also alleged that Bashara Bibi had been illegally imprisoned. Salman Raja said, “If this fascism is not stopped, we will demand action soon”, Salman Raja said and claimed that there is no longer the limit, there is a problem of water in Sindh, and the enemy is stopping the water of the country. He added, “It would be better for you to go aside between people and the founder of PTI, otherwise this nation will not forgive you.”
Likewise, speaking on the occasion, Latif Khosa, speaking about the 26th Constitutional Amendment, said that the way it was approved with arrogance would be brought to the public. He alleged that Akhtar Mengal was searching for his senator in Parliament, and many PTIMNAs were either attracted or abducted. Khosa claimed that “our leader is the heartbeat of the people, yet he is not allowed to meet anyone.”
He added that Sindh farmers, lawyers and citizens are on the streets. “India has now dared to unilaterally terminate the Indus Waters Agreement and remove our attachments, which did not dare before – it has happened under the current government.”
Similarly, Niazullah Niazi said that the man with the original mandate of the people is in jail, and when he will go out, the nation will stand with him. He demanded that the PTI founder be included in the National Security Committee meetings, adding that he had become more important than the Prime Minister’s office.
