After a recent high -level visit to Pakistan, US Congress member Jackbergman has renewed his call for the release of Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In a statement published on X, the Republican lawmaker highlighted his dialogue with leaders and communities in both Pakistan and the United States, emphasizing that democratic principles and human rights are a strong and sustainable American Pakistan partnership.
“After my visit to Pakistan, after engaging with leaders and communities in the United States, I confirm my call to release Imran Khan,” he said.
The Congress member added, “A strong partnership of American Pakistan develops on shared values-democracy, human rights, and economic prosperity. Let’s work together for freedom and stability.”
The US delegation participates in the Mineral Forum in Pakistan
Bergman led a bilateral Congress delegation to attend the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 25 (PMIF 25). The delegation included Congressman Thomas Sozi and Jonathan Jackson.
The US Congressmen described their visit as “very successful and important to the future”.
Congress member Bergman said that the importance of Pakistan -US relations is undeniable. He said that the two countries are working in different sectors and promoting partnerships. “Minerals are an important sector in this partnership,” he said.
During his establishment, lawmakers met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other top officials.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), discussions during the meeting with the Army Chief focused on regional security and defense cooperation. The Congressmen praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their central role in counter -terrorism and recognized the country’s sustainable partnership in regional peace.
The two sides emphasized the importance of permanent bilateral engagement associated with mutual respect and strategic harmony. Several reconciliation (MUS) was signed to enhance bilateral cooperation in information technology training.
In his meeting with the US delegation, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized Pakistan’s role as the Frontline State in the World War on Terrorism.
Naqvi said, “Pakistan stands like a wall between terrorism and the rest of the world.
He emphasized the need for intelligence and technology sharing and emphasized the international community to recognize Pakistan’s unprecedented sacrifices.
US lawmakers campaign to release Khan
Bergman’s statement increases the growing course of US lawmakers who support Khan’s release. In February 2025, Congressman Joe Wilson and August Flogger sent a letter to Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio, calling for engagement with Pakistan to secure Khan’s independence.
He described Khan as a “judicial abuse” and described his situation as President Donald Trump.
In addition, Richard Greenil, a former acting director of the National Intelligence and a close ally of President Trump, has publicly advocated for Khan’s release.
In December last year, Greenll criticized the Biden administration’s response to Khan’s imprisonment, emphasizing a more clear stance to maintain democratic principles.
Moreover, more than 60 members of the US House of Representatives wrote in October 2024 to the then President Joe Biden, demanding the release of political prisoners in Pakistan, including Khan.
Lawmakers highlighted issues such as electoral fraud and political disagreement, urging the administration to give priority to human rights in their foreign policy.
