KARACHI: Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that significant health research is being done in Pakistan, but the real challenge lies in translating this research into actual policies and health care in real world.
Addressing the 6th International Medical Research Conference (IMRC), organized by the Health Research Advisory Board (Health RAB) at an auditorium in Kamchi, Kamal emphasized the urgent need to connect the research with the implementation of the policy.
“As soon as I go back to Islamabad, I will demand all research reports from Health Rab and other institutions and ensure their implementation,” he said. He added, “Technology and mobile health solutions are the future of health care in Pakistan.
He also announced that the government was working to make every citizen’s CNIC its medical record number, which is an important step to digitalize health data across the country. In a clear comment, Kamal said that despite being a nuclear power, Pakistan is still behind in basic health indications like polio. “Afghanistan can eliminate polio before we do. We have to end it together.”
Health Rab Chairman Professor Abdul Elst emphasized the need for local health care factual research, and praised the ministry’s move to link CNIC to medical records.
Digital Health expert Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed announced the launch of registrars of five national diseases and called for a meaningful, homeland research to guide the future health care plan.
Drip CEO Dr. Obaidullah has expressed serious concerns over anti -microbial resistance, warning that drug trafficking tuberculosis has reached the level of infectious diseases.
He announced that the DRAP will now allocate funds for health research from its Central Research Fund and researchers will be invited to present practical, solving suggestions.
Dr. Khurram Hussain reaffirmed his company’s commitment to support effective health research. “We believe that science should be translated into the care of better patients,” he said. He highlighted his company’s role in promoting evidence -based methods and accessible treatment, especially for communities.
The conference recognizes important partnerships in health research. Professor Tipu Sultan was presented to the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Hajra Blue Gold Medal, Khyber Medical University Professor Dr. Was Shakir, and Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah of ICCBS were given for National Health Research. Dr. Raheel Ahmed received a special identity for his services.
News International and Geo News senior health journalist M. Waqar Bhatti was awarded the Special Health Journalism Award to promote science -based health reporting.
Health Rob general manager Maryam Habib presented an overview of the board’s ongoing plans and partnerships. “Research must be beyond publishing – it has to change and improve life,” he said.
Prominent participants included Dr. Mohammad Salman from the National Institute of Health and Dr. Mumtaz Ali Khan, Prof.
Health Vice Chairman Professor Iqbal Afridi called for more and more focus on mental health research, citing increasing psychological disorders and lack of reliable data. “Mental health is low,” he said. We need strong research to guide our intervention. “
The conference ended with a declaration to emphasize translation of data into policies to promote health research, technology, and patient safety integration in health care systems, mutual cooperation, national registrars, and improve health results in Pakistan. Under the theme of the theme of “Health Research, Technology and Patients Protection”, the 6th IMRC set a strong example of research -driven health policy in Pakistan.
