ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI) central information secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram has accused the government of deceiving the people by using false excuses to divert funds for the development of Balochistan, and thus they have been denied relief in oil prices.
In a statement issued here, he alleged, “The illicit government has failed to eliminate the reduction of fuel prices for citizens living in poverty, which only used to deceive the people, to make false excuses to divert funds for Balochistan’s development.” The federal and Punjab governments also criticized the federal and Punjab governments for their violent crackdown on peaceful protests in the province, as well as peaceful protests in the province. He clearly stated that PTI stands firmly with farmers and fully supports its nationwide protest, and demands a fixed support price of wheat for Rs 40kg per 40kg to strengthen this situation.
He blasted both governments for exploiting farmers and destroying the agricultural economy through oppressive policies, and expressed their commitment that such measures would not be allowed or tolerated in any case.
The PTI leader reminded that under the government of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the farmers were not protesting on the streets, but instead they were invited to the Prime Minister’s house as important stakeholders. He emphasized that he was provided with various facilities, including the reasonable prices of their production, cosmos cards and other privileges to promote the agriculture sector.
Waqas emphasized that agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, about 70 70 % of the population depending on its livelihood and about 42.3 % of the labor force working in the sector.
He criticized the Punjab government for failing to respect the promise of supporting wheat of Rs 40kg per 40kg, which caused the farmers to face severe problems. Waqas has warned that if the federal government does not immediately set the price of wheat aid if the federal government does not immediately fix the economy, then Pakistan is in danger of a major agricultural crisis.
He added that farmers in Punjab and across the country are more worried about these losses due to the federal government’s decision to eliminate the salary of wheat support. This is a policy that has been going on for more than five decades.
The wheat revealed that the wheat is now being sold at Rs. He questioned how farmers could be expected to sell such losses, and the government was accused of benefiting the middlemen instead. In addition, he criticized the ‘installed’ government to promote corporate farming, which deprives small farmers of their land, water and labor. He warned that such policies are aimed at focusing agricultural power in the hands of some of the major players engaged in hunter ways, who prefer more profit than food protection.
Waqas stressed that Pakistan has the ability to double its agricultural production but it needs sincere and insightful leadership. He accused the government to deliberately create a wheat crisis so that imports could be justified and filling their own coffin.
The PTI Information Secretary pointed out that after the flood of 2022, agricultural production was a major setback, resulting in a shortage of 2.4 million tonnes of wheat. He said that instead of supporting local farmers, the government allowed private firms to import 3.6 million tonnes of non -standard wheat from countries like Ukraine, which led to an unbeaten scandal. He demanded that the Public Accounts Committee chaired by Junaid Akbar investigated the mega scandal and blamed the culprits.
The wives also condemned the Punjab government for imposing income tax on farmers who earned between Rs 600,000 and Rs 6 million, from 15 to 45 percent, as well as the proposed tax on livestock.
He called on the rulers to revise their policies affecting farmers and ordinary citizens, emphasizing that they should reduce extravagance, including unnecessary foreign tours, and reduce the cost of expenditure in the offices of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.
Recalling the PTI -led Punjab government for the prosperity of the farmers, Waqas compared it to the present government, which he allegedly accused of destroying the agriculture sector.
He pressured the government to increase the levy by increasing the levy on a large scale, refusing to get rid of fuel prices, while making false claims of turning the funds saved for the development of Balochistan. He rejected it as a trick to deceive the people and said that the real intention of the government is to strengthen itself. Wahwas called on the government -led government to eliminate theaters and immediately convey the benefits of fuel prices to the people who are struggling with sky prices.
The PTI Information Secretary emphasized that if the government is truly sincere about resolving the Balochistan crisis, it should immediately release the missing persons and political prisoners, recognize the rights of the locals on their resources, and expel all exploitation forces from the province.
