Dubai: Supporting Indian captain Rohit Sharma after a fatal post by an Indian politician, Great Sunil Gavaskar, batting, said that cricket is about skill which is not “modeling”. Rohit defeated Australia in the Champions Trophy semi -finals in Dubai on Tuesday, but a social media comments on the Indian captain’s bodyweight shaded the construction.
India’s opposition Congress party spokesman Sham Mohammed posted on X: “Rohit Sharma is thick for a sports player! We need to lose weight! And of course India has done the most impressive captain of India ever! Media, Pandits and ruling Bharatiya Janata Party have set fire to this post.
“I have always said, if you just want a slim boy, you should go against modeling and pick up all the models. It’s not about it,” Gavaskar told India today. Gavaskar spoke about how Indian batsman Sarfraz Khan was also “notorious” because of his weight problems, but he said it was a performance which is important.
“I don’t think the size has anything to do with it,” Gauskar said. “This is your mental strength, even if you can stick to the distance, this is the most important thing. Bat well, batter long, and score runs.
Earlier, Rohit was mocked in the Indian Premier League for his visible “Poonch”, but the 37 -year -old has ignored his critics. In the first semi -finals, Sush’s Blocking opener hit the immediate fire 28 when India started chasing 265 against Australia before Virat Kohli won with 84.
Both Rohit and Kohli were recently criticized for lack of runs in Test cricket and they came to 50 overs tournament with retirement rumors. India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir said Rohit always sets the tone for India’s batting, regardless of that he scored.
“If your captain bats with such a tempo, it just gives the dressing room a very good hint that we want to be completely fearless and crushed,” said Jabheer about Rohit’s form. “You look at the runs. We guess it. This is the difference.” India will meet South Africa or New Zealand in the final on Sunday in Dubai.
Shami has admitted that playing in a venue ‘certainly helps’ Finals India India Peace’s spare head Mohammad Shami has broken the ranks, recognizing that playing all their games of the Champions Trophy at a location in Dubai is taking advantage of them.
Syrian returned 3-48 figures for India’s four-wicket win against Australia in the semi-finals in Dubai on Tuesday. After that, Indian coach Gautam Gambhir attacked critics who said playing at the same Dubai International Cricket Stadium every time is unfair.
India has refused to travel to the Champions Trophy host Pakistan on political tensions and have won all four of their games in their temporary home. They will face South Africa or New Zealand in Sunday, once again in Dubai.
Meanwhile, the remaining seven teams had to shuttle between three Pakistani cities and the United Arab Emirates in the ODI.
After its important role in defeating Australia, Syrian said on Tuesday, “It certainly helped us because we know the conditions and behaviors of the pitch.”
As part of the tournament’s hybrid arrangements, South Africa was forced to go to Dubai, just less than 24 hours to return to Pakistan without playing the game. India is unbeaten in the 10 ODIs they have played in Dubai, won nine. Shami, 34, has claimed a five -wicket distance in India’s opening win against Bangladesh and has bowled with fast and accuracy.
But in a question about getting a reverse swing with the old ball, Syrian pleaded with cricket authorities to allow the use of wholesale to polish the ball in 50 overs format. In 2022 the International Cricket Council banned wholesale – which was brought during a permanent pandemic disease – permanent.
The use of wholesale to shine one side of the old ball and keep the other rough helps fast bowlers to swing the leather ball late and can become a deadly weapon in the last few overs of the ODI match.
They can still use sweat. After a strong start of the tournament, Syrian briefly left the field in victory over Pakistan. It has now put all the fears of any fitness issues with two matches in three days and has bowled its full quota of 10 overs against Australia.
