ISLAMABAD: The 16th National Assembly has completed the first parliamentary year with a massive legislation as 51 bills, including the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
“The completion of the 1st parliamentary year of the 16th National Assembly identifies an important milestone in the country’s parliamentary and legislative history,” a National Assembly spokesman said on Saturday.
He said that with the Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the National Assembly advanced in legislation with a successful passage or 40 government bills and 11 private members ‘bills, while 36 government bills and six private members’ bills became acts. In addition, 13 sessions of the National Assembly were held and 130 days of parliamentary proceedings were completed. In addition, 26 resolutions were passed during the first parliamentary year and the ministries answered 1,059 acting and 264 non -star questions.

Other important legislations include the Digital Nation Pakistan Act 2025, which aims to increase Pakistan’s digital economy, and the Electronic Crime Prevention (Amendment) Act 2025, which updates cyberself and digital crime regulations.
The spokesman claimed, “During the first parliamentary year of the current National Assembly, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, with neutrality, played a vital role as a bridge between the opposition and the government in the legislative process of public importance.” He said that the Speaker paid special attention to the question of time to ensure that public issues were being highlighted and resolved.
The ongoing “right size” process to the NA Secretariat is being carried out in three stages. So far, the first two stages have been successfully implemented, resulting in the removal of 220 unnecessary posts within Grade 1 to 19. This reform has saved the cost of cost, which has reduced public spending by more than Rs 563 million annually. The speaker also targets a savings of Rs 1 billion annually as the third phase of reforms is abolished. The 45th annual forum of the Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) was summoned in Islamabad on October 28, 2024, in which 46 foreign parliamentarians and 14 virtual delections were collected. Sheikh Dr. Salah Muhammad Al -Bader, Imam of the Masjid al -Nabawi (SAW), and the famous Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik also visited the National Assembly of Pakistan. Pakistan hosted the workshop of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP), the Commonwealth Women’s Parliamentarians (CWP) on the draft legislation, gathered the Commonwealth Women’s legislators so that they could strengthen their skills in gender retaliation.
