Cardinals speculations
The Pope’s long illness has mobilized an unusual level of public speculation among cardinals, which is the most senior figure in the 1.4 billion -member Catholic Church after Pontaf.
New York’s Cardinal Timothy Dulin, who is not near Francis and completely rely on official medical updates, suggested at a house on Sunday that the Pope was “probably near death.”
Meanwhile, a former Vatican official, German Cardinal Gerard Muller, who has confronted Francis on ideological matters, criticized the Pope’s health or planning for an agreement.
Talking to Italy’s Corrie Della Sierra, Muller said that Cardinals are not getting much extra information than the things available publicly.
“The Pope is still alive, and this is a moment of prayer,” he said. “Whoever is thinking about the future when Francis is in the hospital is taking no benefit.”
The Vatican’s second most official, Cardinal Petro Pirulin, led the prayer service for Francis in St. Peter Square on Monday evening, which included senior pilgrims and church figures. The service will be held daily.
Pirulin prayed that Virgin Mary would “maintain (Francis) (Francis) at this moment of illness and trial, and soon help her recover her health”.
Outside the Gameli Hospital, the group gathered to pray for Francis near the statue of the late Pope John Paul II, which was often treated during the 1978-2005 Papisi.
Maria Wozlo, a resident of Rome, 18 years, said many people in her homeland are deeply concerned.
Pontuff has repeatedly condemned the ongoing war in Ukraine and demanded peace.
“We are really praying for it,” said Wozlo. “He needs to recover and come home.”
