At least 20 terrorists have been killed by security forces in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.
In a statement, the army’s media wing said the operations took place between November 8-9 against terrorists belonging to Indian proxies.
The first IBO was conducted in North Waziristan’s Shool district, where troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ position and killed eight Indian-led Khurij.
In another IBO, 12 more Khawarij were neutralized after a heavy exchange of fire in KP’s Dara Adamkhel district.
Security forces launched a sanitizing operation to eliminate any other terrorists in the area.
ISPR said that a relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the vision “Izm-e-Isthakum” – as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan – will continue at full speed to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored and sponsored terrorism by security forces and law enforcement agencies.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif paid tribute to Pakistan’s security forces for their successful intelligence-based operations against terrorist elements in North Waziristan and Darra Adam Khel.
President Zardari praised the security forces for their courage and professionalism, and described the success of these operations as a reflection of the nation’s steadfast resolve and unity. He said that Fitna-ul-Khawarij and their Indian-backed facilitators are enemies of Pakistan’s peace and stability.
The President reaffirmed the national commitment to root out terrorism and said that the eradication of foreign-backed militancy was being done through a complete national consensus.
He also paid tribute to the martyrs and praised the unwavering commitment of the armed forces, stressing that the operations under AZM-EISTEHKAM will continue till the scourge of terrorism is completely eradicated.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also praised the security forces for killing 20 terrorists during successful operations. He said that the armed forces stand like a solid wall in defense of the nation, and the entire country salutes their sacrifices.
“Pakistan’s security is our top priority, and we are committed to eliminating all forms of terrorism,” the Prime Minister affirmed.
Since the Afghan Taliban government assumed power in 2021, Pakistan has been witnessing an increase in incidents of terrorism, particularly in KP and Balochistan.
Since then, terrorists have launched hundreds of cross-border terrorist attacks in Pakistan, leading to the martyrdom of soldiers and countless civilians, including women and children.
During the first eight months of 2025, KP alone recorded more than 600 terrorist incidents, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 138 civilians and 79 police personnel.
Pakistan has long urged the Afghan Taliban government to prevent its territory from being used to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
Cross-border terrorism also led to tense border skirmishes between the two neighboring countries’ forces in October.
Pakistan attacked several Taliban posts along the border on October 12, when they resorted to unprovoked firing, with the help of their affiliated militants.
Pakistan’s retaliatory actions resulted in the killing of more than 200 Afghan Taliban and affiliated militants.
Around 23 Pakistani soldiers also accepted martyrdom during the clashes.
Security forces also destroyed several terrorist strongholds in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province and Kabul in “health-related strikes”.
The two countries have halted hostilities following a ceasefire agreement requested by the Afghan Taliban government.
