US President Donald Trump said it would be “easy” to resolve the ongoing clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, speaking during talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
“Although I understand that Pakistan attacked, or there is an attack with Afghanistan. If I have to solve it, it’s easy for me to solve it,” the US president said.
Trump said that when he was in charge of running America, he really enjoyed ending wars and bringing peace to conflict zones.
He added that he had helped defuse eight global conflicts in the past eight months, citing the Pakistan-India standoff and the Gaza peace deal as examples.
“I have resolved eight conflicts including the Middle East. This [Ukraine-Russia] I thought that would have been the easiest. [Russian President Vladimir] Putin mentioned yesterday – Armenia, you know, all the different wars. “It’s amazing,” he said, “but he was surprised that we were able to settle down. He was in the Middle East.” “
Zelinsky came to Washington seeking arms to bolster his country’s forces in Ukraine’s three-year-old conflict with Russia.
However, Trump often highlighted his peace summit with Putin, which took place a few weeks ago, when he and Zelensky spoke to reporters.
The meeting on Thursday came together quickly, making it clear that Trump intended to broker a peace deal and take the air out of Zelenskiy’s pitch for missiles.
Ahead of his private lunch with Zelensky, Trump said the two leaders would have a phone conversation with Putin the previous day.
He once again reiterated his belief that his efforts were worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.
“It’s amazing how people say if you get it, every time I do one, they forget about it. I solved eight battles.
“Go to Rwanda and Congo. Talk about India and Pakistan.
“Look at Thailand. Every time I solve someone, they say, ‘If you solve the next one, you’re going to get the Nobel Prize.’ I didn’t get the Nobel Prize.
“Like somebody got it, who’s a very nice woman, very nice. I don’t know who she is, but she was very generous,” Trump said.
The salver of wars
Last week, Trump said he was aware of rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, claiming he would deal with the situation after he returns from the Middle East, as he described himself as “good at resolving wars”.
“This will be my eighth war that I’ve solved, and I heard there’s a war going on now between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said, I’ll have to wait until I get back. I’m doing another thing. Because I’m good at solving wars,” Trump told reporters aboard the Air Force One as he embarked on a flight from Washington to Israel.
“Think about India, Pakistan. Think about some of the wars that have been going on for a few years. We had one going on for 31, one for 32, one for 37 years, millions of people died in each country, and I think every single one of them, within a day, is great…”.
‘Man of Peace’
Speaking at a press conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, after the signing of the Gaza peace accord, Prime Minister Shehbaz described President Trump as a “real man” who had worked tirelessly and relentlessly to end global conflicts, including the war in Gaza.
Standing alongside the US president and other world leaders, the prime minister said the world was witnessing “one of the greatest days in modern history”.
“Through their efforts in Gaza, they have brought peace to millions not only in South Asia, but also in the Middle East.”
The Prime Minister remarked that peace has been achieved after months of tireless diplomatic efforts led by President Trump, who have made the world a “place to live in peace and prosperity”.
He praised Trump as “what the world needed most at this point,” adding that history will remember him as the leader who “stopped seven and today, eight wars.”
“If it weren’t for that gentleman [Trump]”A full-scale war could have broken out between the two nuclear powers,” Shahbaz said. His timely intervention prevented the disaster. “
The prime minister concluded by saying that Trump’s “vision and exemplary leadership” have made him a symbol of hope and peace for the world, and that his name will be “remembered in golden words.”
