Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed Hamas’s response to US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the two -year war in Gaza on Saturday, saying it opened a window for ceasefire and lasting peace, which should not be allowed to be closed again.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister also thanked President Trump for the leadership of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Indonesia, which led to his efforts during the meetings of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) meetings.
The day after the statement, Trump directed Israel to stop the Gaza Strip bombing, following Hamas’s announcement that it accepted parts of his proposal, which aims to end the two -year conflict from the October 7, 2023 attack and release all other hostages.

He said, “Pakistan will continue a constructive and meaningful partnership in this process.
“Pakistan endorses its principle support for the Palestinian purpose and stands in full solidarity with the Palestinian people in their mere struggle to practice their own unavoidable right to dignity, which has led to a sovereign, viable and internationally based on the establishment of Palestine.
Hamas’s response was welcomed by world leaders and allies, Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
He said in a statement, “Hamas (reaction) represents the status of Palestinian resistance factions to Trump’s plan, and Islamic jihad participated responsibly in consultation with the decision.
