US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he believes that Ukraine can take over all its land occupied by Russia and that Kiev should now work, in which Moscow faces “big” economic problems, suddenly and a surprising rhetoric in favor of Ukraine.
But there was no sign that Trump’s words would be similar to a change in US policy, as the decision to impose heavy sanctions on Moscow was called by Ukrainian President Woldmeer Zelinsky this week.
Immediately after meeting Zilnski on the eve of the UN General Assembly in New York. Later, Trump wrote on the truth, “Putin and Russia are in great economic troubles, and it is time to work for Ukraine.”
“After seeing the economic troubles (war), Russia is causing, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and win all Ukraine in its original form.”
This will require Kiev to withdraw Russian forces from 20 % of its territory, including the Peninsula Peninsula has been held by Moscow since 2014, which will be an extraordinary reversal.
Trump has previously suggested that Kiev should consider abandoning the territory to make peace, and that the talks behind the curtain for the agreement to raise concerns of Ukraine, which will try to legally recognize its occupied lands.
Kaja Kalis, head of Europe’s foreign policy, praised Trump’s statements, saying: “These are very strong statements that we have not heard in such formats before, so it is really good that we are now understood.”
Good, constructive meeting
The US president’s tone was in a summit in Alaska last month, unlike his red carpet treatment for Russian President Vladimir Putin, a part of a clear pressure to end the Russian war in Ukraine.
Zlinski told reporters at a briefing that he had a “good, a -a -a -construction” meeting with Trump, which he refuses to go into details, while praising Trump’s statement about Trump’s truth as “big change”.
Zlinski later told Fox News that he believes the positions of Ukraine and American teams are “closer to any time”, and they think Trump’s status has changed.
The US statement criticized Russia, saying it was fighting “aimless” in a war that a “real military power” would win in less than a week. Trump added that Russia saw a lot like a “paper tiger”.
Nevertheless, Trump’s only firm commitment to the truth was that “NATO had to continue supplying weapons to NATO so that they could work with them,” a clear reference to a new mechanism that allows European countries to buy American weapons for Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s UN Security Council remarked that the United States has not abandoned hope for a peaceful resolution.
“This war needs to be ended. But if it does not happen, if there is no way to peace in the short term, then the United States and President Donald J. Trump will take necessary steps to impose the cost of aggression.”
Zelinsky is urging the United States to promote sanctions pressure on Russia so that it can be forced to enter talks to end the war launched in February 2022, which repeated the call.
Earlier, addressing the General Assembly, Trump had said that if Russia did not end its war, they were ready to impose strong economic measures, but the allies would have to do the same. He also joked some European powers to buy Russian oil.
Zlinski said he and Trump discussed Russia’s riot economy and “is a understanding” that when the war ends, Trump will be ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine.
He said that Trump has the authority to prove a “game changer” for Ukraine in the war. Zillski noted that China maintained influence on Russia, though he added that he had not seen any mark from Beijing that he wanted to end the war.
Talking to reporters, Russian Deputy UN Ambassador Dmitry Polynski eliminated the importance of Trump’s statement on the social society.
“Don’t be so excited about every tweet,” Poliani said.
Former Democratic US representative Tom Malnoski said Trump’s statement was “a turning point of 180 degrees, which will probably not last long”.
Former Assistant American Secretary of State, Malnuski also added to the X: “But Putin will have only one question. What else is Trump going to do to help Ukraine win? If nothing else, these are just words.”
