London: Britain, Australia and Canada on Sunday recognized the Palestinian state in the decades of Western foreign policy, which mobilized the Swift Israeli anger.
Portugal also had to recognize the Palestinian state at the end of Sunday, as Israel was under huge international pressure on the war in Gaza.
“Today, Britain formally recognizes the Palestinian state, to restore the hope of peace for Palestinians and Israelis and to restore resolution of the two states,” British Prime Minister Kerr Kerma Starmer said in a message on X.
Britain and Canada became the first G7 countries to take this step, France and other countries are expected to open in New York on Monday in the UN General Assembly.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wrote on the X, “Canada recognizes Palestine and offers our contribution to the state of Palestine and the state of Israel in enhancing a peaceful future promise,” Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wrote on X.
This is a water shedding moment for decades of ambitions for Palestinians and the state, in which the most powerful Western countries have long argued that it should only come as part of a peace deal with Israel.
But the move causes these countries to face differences with the United States and Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted angrily and vowed to oppose it in the UN talks.
The growing number of long -standing allies has changed the positions, as Israel has intensified Gaza’s aggression by vowing to abolish Hamas.
The Gaza Strip has suffered widespread destruction, death suffering and lack of food, which has led to a major humanitarian crisis only after the conflict, which has attracted international screams.
‘Special burden’
The UK government is increasing public pressure, with thousands of people on the streets every month. In a survey released by Yugov on Friday, two-thirds of the age of 18-25 were supported by the Palestinian state.
Deputy Prime Minister David Lemmy acknowledged in the United Nations in July that “the UK is a special burden of responsibility to support the solution of two states.”
A century ago, during the 1917 Balfour Declaration, the state was important in laying the foundation for the establishment of Israel.
Three -fourths of the United Nations already recognize the Palestinian state, with more than 140 out of 193.
The star said in July that his Labor government was intended to recognize the Palestinian state until Israel reached a ceasefire in Gaza, seeking further assistance in the area and confirming that the West Bank would not be affiliated with.
The star has repeatedly called on Hamas to continue to release the remaining hostages in the 2023 attack, and is expected to impose new sanctions on the Palestinian group.
Lemi told the BBC on Sunday that the Palestinian Authority – the urban organization that ruled in the West Bank – had been demanding the move for some time, “and I think a lot of it has been wrapped in hope”.
“Will it feed children? No, it will not, it’s less for humanitarian aid. Will it be held hostage? This war must end.”
But he said it was an attempt to “stop” the solution of the two states.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Varson Agabikian Shaheen told AFP last week: “Identity is not symbolic.”
He added, “It sends a very clear message to the Israelites about their occupation forever.”
Portugal said he would formally announce his identity in New York on Sunday.
“Now acting, as the Portuguese government has decided, we are keeping the possibility of being the two states,” said Portuguese President Marcelo Reebilo de Sosa.
