Akistan is currently struggling against the challenge of dual health health. This “double burden of disease” puts pressure on Pakistan’s already disabled health care infrastructure and endanger the welfare of its citizens. Amid this complex situation, a new threat has emerged and it is spreading at a dangerous rate: ‘tobacco -free’ nicotine pouch. Marketing with fraud appeal, these products are an important and often low risk to an individual’s health.
Nicotine pouch, small sockets placed between gum and lips, advertise widely as a “modern” and “careful” method to use nicotine. These pouches, unlike traditional tobacco products, contain nicotine powders that are extracted from the tobacco leaves or artificially manufactured. Their appeal is enhanced by a variety of flavors and smoke or spit lack of spit, which is often associated with other tobacco products. Marketing as “tobacco -free” or “tobacco leaves”, they have seen a significant recent increase in popularity. This has led to misunderstandings among people that they are harmless. Nicotine is a very addictive substance that has a limit to the harmful effects of health. The rapid increase in unorganized marketing and use increases the serious health concerns of their long -term effects.
Nicotine is a powerful psychological compound that can have a profound effect on the human body. Its use, despite the harmful consequences, causes a chronic, a chronic, mental illness, causing the mental illness. This addiction, especially when it begins in youth, can disrupt the development of the brain. Generally, the brain continues to grow for a person’s mid -twentieth year. Early exposure can damage academic functions, including attention and learning, and later increases the chances of addiction to other substances in life.
Proven with clinical trials, health risks associated with nicotine are wider and well documented. The use of nicotine has been linked to many cardiovascular issues. It can cause heart rate and blood pressure, and can put more pressure on the heart. Long -term use can help the stiffness of the artery walls, which increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. These conditions already represent a large part of the NCD burden in Pakistan. The spread of nicotine pouches is at risk of promoting this crisis.
The local effects of these pouches on oral health are also a serious concern. Directing a pair against gums can cause irritation and inflammation. Long and frequent use can lead to the recovery of gums, where the gum tissue turns away from the teeth, exposes the roots and increases the risk of dental diseases and dental loss. Although the long -term effect on oral cancer is still under study, chronic irritation and inflammation of oral tissues are a significant risk of health.
The market for nicotine pouches in Pakistan is largely irregular. Their “tobacco -free” status allows them to ignore many rules and taxes applied to traditional tobacco products. This regulatory vacuum has created a place for aggressive marketing campaigns, especially on social media, which target young adults and adolescents.
The dangerous thing is that the market for nicotine pouches in Pakistan is largely irregular. Their “tobacco -free” status allows them to ignore many rules and taxes applied to traditional tobacco products. This regulatory space has created a gap for aggressive marketing campaigns, especially on social media, which targets young adults and adolescents. Appealing the flavors and cautious nature of these products makes them particularly attractive to the population, which produces a new generation of nicotine consumers and maintains a drug cycle. A recent study highlighted the dangerous trend of the use of high nicotine pouches in young adults in Pakistan, many of which are unaware of health -related risks.
The lack of strong rules, combined with the product fraud marketing, is directly cooperating in the double burden of the nation’s disease. Since NCDs, including cardiovascular diseases and some cancers, continue to grow, the introduction of easily accessible and intoxicated nicotine products is at risk of furthering this diagnosis. This makes Pakistan’s healthcare system and eventually a great burden on the economy, and eliminates resources that are in dire need of other health care measures.
The National Assembly approved the NIH bill on August 12. It states that “there is a serious need for the establishment of a national cancer registry to understand the real burden of the disease, and the national action plan to prevent cancer, and the implementation of administrative strategies to control the growing epidemic.
“Through this bill, the structure and governance of the National Institute of Health will be made more effective. The amendment aims to ensure the reorganization of the company and increase its performance.”
It states that the passage of this bill has marked an important step towards reform and institutional improvement in the health sector.
It is important that the government and regulatory authorities take immediate and decisive action to protect the health of the general public, especially the underage population. Adding these products in relation to taxes can significantly limit the use of these products. The sale and distribution of these products should be brought under strict regulatory control. A comprehensive restriction on the sale of nicotine pouches is the most effective and direct way to deal with this emerging health risk. This can prevent a new wave of nicotine addiction and its associated diseases from sweeping across the country. By eliminating this silent curse, we can protect future generations and make a concrete move towards reducing the double burden of the disease that hurts our nation. The time to take action is now.
