KARACHI: On the third day, heavy monsoon rains flooded roads and houses in Karachi on Wednesday, in which rivers flowing forced rescue teams to move hundreds of residents to security.
When the water was reopened for Shahra Fizle, large arteries, M-9 motorway, and Lyari Expressway-now traffic-several areas had gone underwater. A motorway police spokesman confirmed that both the motorway and the expressway were clean with water.
During the rains, at least four people drowned in the river Gadap, and two bodies, including a woman, have been recovered so far.
The Bihari and Malir rivers, however, were flooded in a dangerous extent, in Saadi Garden and Saadi Town, where the streets, neighborhoods and vehicles were submerged.
As the river, Malir also brought water to the Korangi causway. In the Federal B Area and Shafi Colony, the water that entered the houses from the Lyari River began to decline.
Rescue 1122, PDMA, and Pakistan Army teams worked overnight, causing more than 350 people to be evacuated from the flooded areas. In Gadap, another body was recovered from the river, in which two of the four drowning, including a woman, reached two.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited Malir 15, Qayyamabad, Korangi Kazway, and the city of E -Bhutto, where he reviewed the drainage work and met residents in Saadi city.
He directed the institutions to accelerate pumping operations, stating that the water of Latha and Thodo Dams had entered the city via the motorway. He said the situation had been overcome and he urged critics not to do politics of crisis.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, taking notice of the flood, directed the NDMA to help the Sindh government and the PDMA in relief work. He emphasized that the restoration of the affected families should be given priority, while expressing grief over the GADAP drowning incident.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab also inspected Jamila and Lyari pumping stations, reviewed the performance and directed the authorities to accelerate efforts to improve the drainage system.
Meanwhile, in a statement, K-Electric, said that the KK power distribution network continues to show flexibility, the majority of its 2,100 feeders supply electricity throughout the magic.

CEO Monius Alvi praised the support of the teams, the city’s administration and the consumers, saying: “Despite the significant rains, Karachi and its surrounding areas remained widely stable.”
He added, “Where the power supply was suspended, the reason was only due to excessive water, because the feeders were temporarily shut down as a precautionary measure, and the restoration work immediately began. The field teams got clearance while maintaining safety in their top priority.”
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the weather system over Sindh has weakened in a low pressure area in the west of Karachi, yet lightweight rains are expected in Karachi Division, Jamshoro, Thutta and Sujul.
The department has also warned that the Indus River Indus in Gudu is likely to reach the flood level within 24 hours, and it is expected that the score will come to a more flood phase after 48 hours.
According to the PMD, the highest rainfall was recorded in 143.8 mm in Surjani town from 8am to 8pm on September 10.
Gulshan-e-Miamar received 109.8 mm, Gulshan-e-headed 92 mm, Korangi 92 mm, northern Karachi 81.6 mm, and DHA 74.5 mm.
Shahra-e-Fizal logged 64 mm, Nazimabad 60.5 mm and Saadi Town 60.2 mm. University Road recorded 58.8 mm, Old Airport Airport H 58.3 mm, Orangi 47.2 mm, Moripur 45 mm and Jinnah Terminal 38.6 mm.
