Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered the concerned authorities to start preparations as Pakistan will host the next Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in 2027.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Shahbaz on the basis of the T -Chowk flyover project in the Islamabad Expressway, in which it declared a milestone for the residents of the twin cities, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The total cost of the project is Rs 1,495 million, with a duration of 150 days. The project will officially begin today and is expected to be completed by February 9 next year.
The project is being constructed on the current available land, which does not need land acquisition and is financied by the CDA by itself.
Addressing the ground ceremony, the Prime Minister launched the Home Minister, the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), and such a major public interest project of his teams.
He directed all the concerned authorities to ensure the high quality of the entire construction quality and emphasized that completing the project in the shortest time, there should be no compromise on the quality.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan will host the next SCO Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, and the preparations have to start immediately.
This includes the construction of a new residence and making Islamabad more beautiful. In this regard, he mentioned that Tajikistan had gifted the plants, and the CDA and other teams were working on the efforts of the gardens.
Prime Minister Shahbaz also emphasized that the government is planning to implement another railway interest project in the twin cities.
“If this happens (the project is completed), then it will be a great gift for the residents of the twin cities,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the project has already been completed by Islamabad Expressway but it was decided that the final class (T Chowk flyover) would be formally inaugurated.
He praised the CDA, National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAC), and other related stakeholders to design the project, saving Rs 7 billion in this process, thus needing to design the project to design the project.
He assured that according to the Prime Minister’s direction, the project would be well completed over time without compromising on its quality.
Earlier, officials apprised Prime Minister Shahbaz about the features of the project.
It was informed that the Islamabad Expressway serves as the central art of the capital, in which Rawalpindi, Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and GT Road are combined, while important citizens support development.
The CDA has already made the Expressway signal free from zero point to T Chowk, from zero point to 26 km.
Currently, T Chowk Junction in Rawat, Islamabad’s internal point, extremely crowded and poor condition, in which daily heavy and light traffic volumes reach about 100,000 vehicles.
The new flyover, once completed, will facilitate about 41.572 vehicles daily.
The T Chowk flyover project has a flyover with a length of 1.034 km and 11.30 meters wide.
In order to enhance the overall functionality and aesthetics of the project, sub -works such as installation of street lights and comprehensive gardening development will also be carried out.
Special teams have also been assigned to monitor and ensure the quality of work, as the Prime Minister reiterated that quality has become a top priority in all national development projects.
